Rail cuts down on congestion. HOV lanes in many cities have you drive in a lane $2.00 each way just to dump you off in the same congestion that you just paid to avoid. Then you have to pay for parking. Rail lines alleviates the traffic and parking hassle.

Only thing rail does is allow more passengers and lessens costs (one person driving a train vs 4 bus drivers).... other than that, dedicated busways beat rail

um...... HOV lane........

Only if you're carpooling or paying the toll, but it doesn't really help with the congestion on freeways. Give the people the option of riding a train into the city from Katy, SugarLand, Pearland, Cypress, Spring/The Woodlands and from the SoHo and then I think people would see public transportation as a more viable option.

They gonna turn Dallas/Houston into the next Atlanta. All the unscrupulous uneducated vagabonds gonna stampede there in droves because they think it's the next land of prosperity. Thankfully the odds are extremely low of where I'm moving will becoming a hot spot. I haven't even told friends where :mjpls:

I know breh is always on a crusade for bus lines, interested in hearing @Always-Right Liggins take.

It's necessary for the bus routes to be long because the city is so spread out. No one wants to transfer from bus to bus to bus just to go 18 miles in a straight line. Metro just needs to worry about on time performance. If the bus shows up on time people will ride. Metro has a reliability problem.
