Hell
Expected as younger people have a higher rate of education, church told be told alot of the people there lived lower-class so they needed something to believe in. I know it sounds mean but it's true.

Young folks want the bag, want the education and success, not gonna live like the older generation did.

Just the truth.

Yup, same. It helped that my parents were never particularly religious anyway. We did go to Church for the community and they helped my mom get through cancer 20 years ago but we never really fukked with it at home, and that allowed me to never really give a fukk. I always saw the sermons and bible stories as :duck:'s as a kid

By the time I got old enough to really think about it I was just like ":patrice:Have I ever actually believed that shyt?" and stopped pretending.
Yep. I won’t knock the black church too much because the church community helped my moms a lot when my dad was working out of town. But I pretty much had the exact same arc as you. Just stopped pretending

:laff: because I can’t read the bible at home?

please give me the book, chapter, and verse where it says go to church or you will go to hell.

The bible even says where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them. It doesn’t specify a church or any other building.

Hebrews 10:23-25

23 Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word];
24 and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds,
25 not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.

Why do people only think morality comes from the church?? The church is one of the most segregated institutions we have in this country. We overrate the positive impact of the church and ignore the fact that there are other non religious based organizations that have been very helpful in society as well. We don't need the church to develop a moral compass.

Not to mention the hypocrisy people witnessed growing up in the church among family, elders and others.

It's hard to take it seriously when you observe all the fukkery among church folk as a young, impressionable mind.

I still believe the church has an important role to play in the Black community. But, it needs to be reimagined. Especially if there's a desire to have more Black men attend.

Also, this hasn't been mentioned enough:

The large amount of sex abuse scandals from the catholic church over the past 30 years hasn't helped. That shyt damn near nuked the Catholic church in Ireland.

And the large amount of televangelists or pastors that would preach one thing, and do other in private. I'm talking pastors that preach about "homosexuality is a sin!'... just for them to be gay in private. Or how shame people for sex... just for them to be engaging in cuckoldry in private (Jerry Falwell Jr). Stuff like this has happened too much to where people just tune it out and fail to take it seriously.

And this is coming from a person that is religious.

Overall, nothing is absolute. There are plenty of Christians that a good people, but also plenty that are bad, just like every other damn demographic out there. So that alone has reduced a lot of the mystique and glory that organized religion has.

this thread is comedy to me :mjlol:.

majority of yall not realizing you are yearning for community, i.e the church

not necessarily religion

i have no problem with what the church does for people and the community.

i do have a problem with religion. so you can tell me imma go to hell or w.e buuuuuut know what youre yearning for and dont talk to other nikkas in here like they stupid because they dont believe in it. otherwise them numbers gonna sink.

we also live in a era where the mystique of religion wont fly. as much as you have people not believing in facts. mf want proof. so just cuz the good book says one thing doesnt mean it is. interesting part is alot of those same people that hang on to religion dont need proof just faith pretty much in every facet of life.

edit: i thought i was in higher learning.... im in the lockoon room ...oh boy

Despite what the article is saying, my eyes and brain seeing that timeline sees a correlation between the decline in religion and the rise in internet usage. It's tough to keep the youth in the church when they have such easy access to information.

A majority of the Catholic Church is a false church breh. It has too many similarities to Mystery Babylon.

There might be some real believers somewhere in the church but reality is they have a lot of pagan mixed with their teaching. This is why people need to read the scriptures for themselves.

Some of them teach praying to Mary like a goddess (Queen of Heaven). Some believe they are actually drinking the blood and eating the body of Christ in communion when it was meant to be symbolic and in remembrance of Christ.
Many other things they do.
