you tell me.
they're the same thing

I got dudes negging me and shyt in this thread, and the thing is, I didn't even say that I think that UC4 trailer is "CGI"

people were saying ND doesn't use 'CGI'. I just pointed out that ND has used pre-rendered cut-scenes, and that those are essentially CGI

also that "the question should be if what we're seeing is being rendered in real-time on the PS4". that was advice to avoid semantics of what's meant by "Computer Generated Imagery" when we're talking about imagery generated by a computer. but for some reason cats wanted to push the semantics, so I followed :ehh:

:snoop: but thats not because the hardware is incapable of producing those effects. it obviously can since its from those assets that they make the trailer. its just that when playing from a gameplay angle, you won't be able to notice all those little ripples around the mouth and eyes, so its not rendered during gameplay because its unnecessary and you wouldn't notice it. however if you had a replay cam and zoomed in, you'd see it. you criticism is practically meaningless.

same shyt in NBA 2K. when your playing the came from the normal broadcast camera angle, you don't notice all the little details about lebron's hairline and nose that you see when you go to the replay and zoom in.
that's not really true. this screenshot from Crysis 3 is a good example

that npc's character model does not look that good during gameplay. they can step up the level of graphics in situations where the player doesn't have control of the camera

this quicktime event that was posted in this thread is another example of that

Gang violence...
we know it is in engine, so the PS4 is generating it in real time. it is not prerendered

the issue is whether or not ND is sweetening up the visuals during cut scenes when the workload of the system is low. i havent been playing the uncharted series but people say that is how their cutscenes are. either way, because these are in engine, the gameplay ends up looking similar enough to make the transitions seamless.

i think that even if that is a buffed up cutscene, the gameplay will be in the ballpark enough that people wont really notice any jarring switch when they get control of the character.

That's all that matters really.

I have no problem with that

but obviously we'd like to see actual game play at some point
