Nike, shoes come to mind first, apparel second.
Under Armour, I think apparel.

I have no reason to think that Under Armour is any better than Nike, unless its like 1/2 the price or something.

I love Nike too, but for summer work gear their Polo's are top notch. They're nicer than Nike's. The UA dri fit tee's are nice too- better fit than Nike's

Ill always buy Nike bball sneakers though probably.

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
:what:

how recently? It's at a 52-week high and trades at trailing and forward P/E multiples of 88 and 58 ::scust:

UA has a 88 P.E.:scust:
UA pays no dividend:scust:
Nike has approximately the same YoY stock performance despite being 6.5x bigger than UA :ehh:

Gotta start from somewhere.

Right now Steph Curry is a lot of youngsters' favorite player. They want Curry's and their parents most likely think Steph is a great role model so they'll support the shoes no problem. Footlocker and other retailers already have these sold out up to size 12 for awhile now. Reported 41% sales increase in footwear alone. Once cats start seeing more under armor shoes, the trend grows.

Even if you're a multi-billion dollar company, the moment you start losing the advertising battle is when it'll turn. If UA establishes itself as a championship caliber footwear company and more athletes start taking to them, Nike going to be in serious trouble. Remember, these athletes competing against each other want the best possible advantage over their competition.

If Steph Curry continues to ball out on everyone, cats will start to think the shoes have some advantage to them. Another athlete starts using them because they see Curry is showing out and winning trophies, and then they start showing out themselves, two athletes may join in next, then 10, then 30, etc. Athletes for the most part are very superstitious. Next thing you know designers are leaving for UA, trend change.

Like I said in the other thread, another title and year like this for Curry with a fly Curry Two and Nike going to take a very high impactful rare L.

Granted they'll have some great athletes on their roster, but they won't have THE guy in basketball, which is huge because it's something they've always had all the way back to Jordan.

the problem is, nike is not only about sports, its about fashion also....ppl just buy UA for sports
true, but he margins in sports gear and equipment and apparel are better than fashion:

http://articles.baltimoresun.com/20...8_1_armour-ceo-kevin-plank-market-leader-nike

Market leader Nike, with 46 percent of the athletic footwear market and a third of the sports apparel sales, far outpaces its competitors with a combined $8.9 billion sales so far this year.

Under Armour has been stealing market share in apparel sales for months from its older German rival and from Nike, according to Sterne Agee.

Under Armour's sports apparel sales, which account for 14 percent of the U.S. market, expanded to more than twice those of Adidas. Adidas, with a six percent share of the apparel market, continues to rank third as a footwear brand behind Nike and Jordan, with more than double Under Armour's fledgling, but growing, footwear sales.

"Under Armour and Nike are constantly dissatisfied, and Adidas hasn't had the same sense of urgency," said Sam Poser, a managing director and research analyst with Sterne Agee. "Adidas sometimes sits back on their laurels too much and the other folks pass them by. What we're seeing now is an example of that."

The year-to-date report reflects a trend of Under Armour's apparel sales growing while Adidas' decline, eating away at Adidas market share. In February for instance, Under Armour's apparel sales were nearly triple those of Adidas. :damn: The German company said in a quarterly earnings report last month that its sales grew in all regions in the first half of the year except in North America, where it had double-digit declines in the United States.

Under Armour CEO and founder Kevin Plank has repeatedly stated the relatively young company's goal of becoming the world's biggest sports brand by targeting the women's sports apparel and footwear markets, expanding its base of Under Armour retail outlets and spreading its brand around the globe, where sales now account for less than 10 percent of revenue. The company anticipates nearly $3 billion in sales this year.

Last week, just days after losing out on a bid to sign NBA star Kevin Durant to a basketball-shoe deal, Under Armour announced the signing of Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen to its lineup of representatives including ballerina Misty Copeland and skier Lindsey Vonn for its biggest-ever, $15 million, ad campaign aimed at women. [thus, my projection of a very bright future for UA as it speaks to the woman's market]

Since late last year, the company has become the exclusive supplier to teams at Notre Dame and the U.S. Naval Academy, expanded into Brazil and opened branded stores in China and New York City.

For much of the year, Under Armour has been battling it out with Nike.

Poser said in a May research report that the two brands' apparel sales were continuing to dominate, with Nike capturing sales in mid-tier department stores and Under Armour seeing healthy gains in share through athletic specialty and sporting goods retailers and taking share from the larger Nike from those stores. That month alone, sales jumped 18 percent for Nike and 22 percent for Under Armour while sales declined sharply for Adidas, Russell and Champion.
----------------------

so, the growth in apparel is way ahead than growth in shoes, and UA is eating right off of Adidas and other brands' plates, while starting to inch into sneakers.

Personally, the growth in the womans' market is gonna be key. Women's gear is still targeted toward comfort and beauty but in reality most women in the gym want performance and style over just cozy pants (lulu lemon i'm talking to you). UA could really gain ground there

I like them both. :ld:

I have an Under Armour Gym bag that is really great. Good construction, lasted and long time.

One of my favorite T-shirts is made by them.

But I will always buy Nike shoes though.:manny:
