I’m not as well versed in UBI, but how would this work in a free market? If $1000 is given to every American, what’s stopping rent, gas & food increases that will basically nullify said UBI?

if it were up to me, people wouldn't have to even think about paying if not paying much for healthcare, housing and utilities in times of crisis
but because that's not the case it can be seen as throwing money to the wind, despite the fact without any funds, people will starve, which the nine times out of ten won't because they have funds to purchase and cover for what they can.

What's UBI mean?
The problem with this statement is that it's the people in the middle who barely make enough to get by but aren't broke enough to qualify for government assistance who are suffering the most.Naaaahh, I don't want my financial potential to be limited by UBI. Everyone with no ambition gets government assistance anyway. There's your UBI.
The middle class would greatly benefit from a UBI and it would go a long way in stimulating economic growth.
My major issue with UBI is it's an economic booster attempt masquerading as a social service.
It's not a solution to poverty and you can provide subsidies that accomplish the same thing.
They want you to spend money to keep the economy going. But at some point, this will strain the system, so what next after that?
