Athleticism is not the issue here. Football IQ and technique is. Spain were possibly the most unathletic (aside from perhaps stamina) national team I have ever witnessed dominate but they completely and utterly dominated Football from 2008-2013, crushed everybody, no one could figure it out.

So if people are calling for more black players I hope it's to instill in them and in fact, place a higher standard on technique and football IQ than athleticism. And the sum of their argument isn't "black people are more athletic"

Because athleticism is not the issue here. You don't win a World Cup or become a Football juggernaut by putting most of your stats on Athletics at the Character Creation Screen.

I know this because every time I played with a black player who was fast he was put on the wing and told to cross the ball, the problem was he didn't know how to cross, he didn't have the technique. Moreover, he often times couldn't dribble he just used pace and sheer speed to get pass the defender and was clueless after that. Best black players were the AM's and CM's, the East Africans with amazing technique who could dribble circles around you and send precision like throughballs.

This assumption hurts, not helps black kids chances to succeed in the sport.

-Martial
-Mbappe
-Dembele
-Sane
These are all athletic black players, but they are tempered by godlike technique.

Another problem is these dumbass coaches, I swear to almighty god, I know Football better than they do.
Exactly. Ghana consistently puts out the most athletic squads but they don’t succeed because they fail at basic technique and strategy.

As evidenced by this topic, Americans don’t understand soccer well enough to teach it at a high enough level to be successful at it on the world stage.

I gotta have some faith:mjcry: But silliness aside, I see things getting better now that we’ve hit rock bottom so to speak. It’s just matter of the US really sitting down and being honest about where they’re at as a program and making some tough judgments in order to move forward.
They will never win

I was gonna create another thread to discuss the failures of American soccer (football), but I guess this thread will do.

We have football, bball, baseball and hockey ... let the Europeans and their former colonies have at their sport

Like seriously, England alone has like 4-5 proffessional leagues in a single sport.... :pachaha:

Soccer would have to dethrone one of those 4 leagues in terms of grassroots support

Why is there even a thread so large on this bullshyt???... :heh::mjlol:

Because as much as some people want to admit, there is an invested interest in The US soccer team. Them not making the World Cup, let alone the last two Olympic Games, is a huge deal which leaves you wondering how can the US team simply get better.

Why you feel that way:jbhmm:
They don't have the talent that Euro & South American countries. I shouldn't say never because as more parents are pulling their kids from football they'll eventually get some great talent. I should say they aren't winning anytime soon

That was the case in 2004, today not so much but this product was direct product of 1984-1994 kids so maybe it effected this group. This was the age group where Freddy Adu was our best player. So players failing at a pro level really hampered this group.
Well if Freddy Adu is your best player then that’s a problem to begin with.

But I hear you. The thing is that the American soccer development structure hasn’t changed. The kids that really care about soccer and are actually fukking good at it don’t get access to the best facilities and best coaches because of pay to play. It’s a HUGE problem. Add that American style soccer just lacks finesse and doesn’t focus on the basic skills and this is the result you get. I’m watching players out there that can’t dribble or do basic shyt like control a pass without breaking stride.

There’s a development problem in terms of coaching but also an issue in the infrastructure that doesn’t allow the best and most passionate kids to have access to resources needed to become world class.

This isn’t true about Ghana, they’ve recently failed because their FA has been a circus. Prior to that they’ve impressed at the World Cup. Muntari, Asamoah, Essien, Appiah all had better technique than almost every American midfielder. As far as tactics go, that’s tied to a bad FA with no continuity at manager, these are all players who play in Europe.

U-s problems is they flop in Europe like crazy. Pulisic and McKinnie aside, most of our Nats flop in Europe and play for bottom feeder clubs.

The problem is simple, we had two football generations that flopped in Europe. Of the two generations that was successful in Europe, Donovan and Pulisic, one gen is washed now and the other is 18 and 19. Too young.

The US problem is simple, get rid of all players who can't play with the best. They should have stuck with the Black germans

Exactly, Ghana is one of the more technical countries in the world in Football. The issue with African countries is always money. That's mainly due to white supremacy. I would say 100% due to it.
