There less Americans than anytime in MLS history and it's better than ever. Teams like Salt Lake and Atlanta are building world class training academies and stealing others talent due to it. MLS teams better catch up before other teams join the USL, put big money into the league and seek pro/rel
I really hope this happens.

What's worse is... Gonzalez scored a fukking own goal on Howard instead of clearing the ball. :snoop:
Dude is one of those #stillwithher types and Howard is a passive motherfukker when it comes to race.Don't feel sorry for either of em. :blessed:

Woah pump the breaks there:whoa:
Pump the breaks on what?

Breh is one of the best teenage players in the world. What I am saying isnt me being excited or any hyperbole. Barring injury, he will be at a mega club within the next 18 months.

I didnt say he will excel or do great at those sides. I do not know that at all, but his trajectory is playing for Barcelona, Madrid, Bayern, United, PSG.

Nah I don’t see that as a guarantee yet. It’s possible but there have always been dudes that start great but don’t take the next step. Plus Barcelona already has Dembele who plays the same position

it doesnt work for any of our international sports.

We only win in basketball because we played it first and have freak athletes and a lot of people play basketball, but consider that someones sorry sack dad was coaching a young Lebron James. Thats what we have with American soccer except no Lebron James.

The way we develop athletes in this country is all backwards. We have seen the fall off with American tennis as a big example. We always talk about NBA players lacking the ability to play in a system, etc. Kids are not coached well in this country and have to go it on their own. Until we take sports development more serious, this will always happen.

The US soccer system needs to change its approach and get better training for youth coaches and bring in better coaches from around hte world to work on the system.
Whites played basketball first, at least for 30 yrs before we created our amateur teams/league.

I have no idea if Lebron specifically would be a good soccer player. But I disagree with the notion that if our best athletes were properly trained to play soccer from a young age they wouldn't excel at it...

Like if "side to side quickness" in the best type of athleticism to succeed in futbol, I bet there a more than a few NBA and NFL players who are would score better than Ronaldo in a shuttle or cone drill....as long as they don't have to dribble a ball

In short: I think the best athletes are generally the best athletes regardless of sport.
lol y'all still using the "best athletes don't play soccer:mjgrin:" excuse

I don't understand what's funny, he likely will.

My concern for him is that he's thrown his entire international career away.

When you realise you could have been receiving passes from Modric, Rakitic and Perisic, then instead you turn around and see Michael Bradley supplying you.:mjcry::mjcry::mjcry:
Because it's utterly ridiculous . Pukisic could MAYBE go to a Man U or a big club in England. Barca and Real is laughable

Exactly until they start to invest in kids from the inner cities the usmst will always be subpar

This is true. In the US, players tend to come from privileged backgrounds, yet all the best soccer players in the world come from the barrios, the favelas, the hoods, the council estates, etc.

As a league, how is MLS preceived in the world?

As a retirement home. :dunnoboutdat:

Seriously chaps, they need to dissolve CONCACAF.:jbhmm:

Merge it in to CONMEBOL.

I understand why UEFA tries to stack the deck in the Champions League to perpetuate growth in smaller nations, but there's no credible reason the same should happen in international football.

You mean to tell me we have Panama at the World Cup finals while Gareth Bale sits at home? Madness.:hhh:

We potentially have Honduras there while the likes of Luka Modric still might not make it? It's a scandal, guys.:picard:

There is literally one nation in CONCACAF of any worth, Mexico, and even then they're an average team. It just makes no sense.

It's like allowing San Marino, Andorra, Kosovo, Cyprus, Gibralta and Malta to have their own group in Europe to see who gets there.

This mindset is the result of not having a relegation/promotion system in your sport. :snoop:

Fam, only one team has a bye into the tournament and that's the hosts. No other team has a right to be there. Everybody has to qualify. Even Germany, the reigning World champions, had to qualify.

Naw, he's right. He has been on Barça's radar for a minute and the club has pubically acknowledged this. The Iniesta era is over even though they gave them that BS lifetime contract. The questions are how much will Barça have to pay to get him and does Pulisic want to play in Spain? Barça needs him the most, Real could be petty and buy him just so Barca doesn't get him. Really, Atletico Madrid could use him, but they are a selling club, so they would never pay the amount it would take to get him. Pulisic, unlike the rest of the USMNT, is ready because he has been playing in a Big 5 league for a team that is generally playing for European hardware. Not much more difference playing for Barça than Dortmund.

Yeah, every team in CONCACAF that has players in MLS has gotten better, EXCEPT FOR THE USMNT! I noticed this last cycle when MEXICO came within 2 goals in 2 minutes of playing in the playoff for Rio (they would of qualified, but Mexico needing a playoff was laughable). I also said that the U.S. would not qualify for Russia if they kept playing the way they started in qualifying.... and that happened too.
