Reyna is not part of the Donovan/Dempsey/Beasely generation. He from the post-94 world cup generation. He, Brad Friedel, Tonny Sanneh, and Eddie Pope are the same grouping. The US had three golden generations.
Donovan, Dempsey, Reyna and Eddie Johnson- Landon had lukewarm success in Europe and did play for Bayern Munich. Dempsey had one of the best European careers for an American. Reyna was a good Euro based player, Eddie flopped in Europe but played for some big clubs.
Adu, Zizzo, Bradley, Jozy and Omar Gonzalez- The most successful youth team while being horrendous as men. Adu, complete flop. Zizzo, injuries killed him. Went to mid table Bundesliga and flopped. Bradley had the best career in Europe but flopped for big clubs. Jozy with the exception of two clubs, was a total flop. Gonzalez mainly played in the MLS.
Pulisic, McKinnie, Wright, Hyndman, Tim Weah, Carleton, and Klinsmann. Too young but they got a lot of potential. Pulisic got world class potential and the sky is the limit for McKinnie. Both players looking to become international superstars. A lot of talent in this group.
But this guy is 6'5" ya'll told me there was no way he could be a good soccer player...
he plays center back. a position most casual fans dont even notice. But this guy is 6'5" ya'll told me there was no way he could be a good soccer player...
I have no idea if Lebron specifically would be a good soccer player. But I disagree with the notion that if our best athletes were properly trained to play soccer from a young age they wouldn't excel at it...he plays center back. a position most casual fans dont even notice.
Lebron could potentially do that, but its not like Kendall Watson is a great player.
The biggest thing in soccer is side to side quickness. Lebron isnt that quick over short distances. He can go once he has some space, but over short distances he gets cooked by guards all the time.

It is a world cup.Seriously chaps, they need to dissolve CONCACAF.
Merge it in to CONMEBOL.
I understand why UEFA tries to stack the deck in the Champions League to perpetuate growth in smaller nations, but there's no credible reason the same should happen in international football.
You mean to tell me we have Panama at the World Cup finals while Gareth Bale sits at home? Madness.
We potentially have Honduras there while the likes of Luka Modric still might not make it? It's a scandal, guys.
There is literally one nation in CONCACAF of any worth, Mexico, and even then they're an average team. It just makes no sense.
It's like allowing San Marino, Andorra, Kosovo, Cyprus, Gibralta and Malta to have their own group in Europe to see who gets there.
I agree. The ideal player are running backs, cornerbacks (especially them), and even some WRs. Point guards as well. Odell Beckham played for US National Youth teams as a kid for instance.I have no idea if Lebron specifically would be a good soccer player. But I disagree with the notion that if our best athletes were properly trained to play soccer from a young age they wouldn't excel at it...
Like if "side to side quickness" in the best type of athleticism to succeed in futbol, I bet there a more than a few NBA and NFL players who are would score better than Ronaldo in a shuttle or cone drill....as long as they don't have to dribble a ball
In short: I think the best athletes are generally the best athletes regardless of sport.
Let me put it like this....It is a world cup.

Pulisic is going to Real Madrid or Barcelona or United within the next 18 months. He gonna be fine.

It's the 4th best attended league in the world (5th give or take the Mexican league)I think MLS is slowly gaining more and more attention each year. I feel that it can be marketed a bit better but the interest is growing.
Beasley is who I was thinking of but I had the wrong American who played for RangersReyna is not part of the Donovan/Dempsey/Beasely generation. He from the post-94 world cup generation. He, Brad Friedel, Tonny Sanneh, and Eddie Pope are the same grouping.
The Bradley/Altidore generation is what failed this team like you said.
The kids are the ones who can help bring it back, but its gonna take a lot of time.
I don't understand what's funny, he likely will.

There less Americans than anytime in MLS history and it's better than ever. Teams like Salt Lake and Atlanta are building world class training academies and stealing others talent due to it. MLS teams better catch up before other teams join the USL, put big money into the league and seek pro/relEvery CONCACAF team going to the World Cup has MLS players. So even though the USMNT failed, the league is doing OK![]()
