soccer is very expensive in the US compared to other countries.
for most players, the only opportunity to play above the rec level is pay for play travel leagues that be up to $1000 a season plus tournament fees and the costs of traveling

Me personally, i didn't play above rec until 7th grade which is way too later to be developing players

Sidenote:
yall out here feteing and i'm stuck in DC with these books :mjcry:
at least the gyaldem here are bad :wow:

He's saying that if Messi was American kid playing soccer he wouldn't most likely make it because his parents would not have enough money to pay for him to attend the best clubs in america to maximize his potential. Soccer in America is seen as a sport for the elite from middle class to upper middle class due to how expensive it is.

aahh yea, I had a feeling that's what he was talking about. I didn't know it wqs much more expensive than other countries, no wonder my parents never signed me up for a club as a yute.

Breh so many island tings came down here....seen so many bad Jamaican and Trini joints that I would have gave them my seed right then and there

aaahh ok, I had a feeling that's what he was alluding to. Now that I think about it you're right. Most of the elite clubs here that have good fields are in very affluent :mjpls: areas

yeah the only good thing in youth soccer right now are the academies....and even then many are out of reach...

Is there any way around it in terms of cost? Is it really that expensive.

Yes it is very expensive.Parents that send their children to the best clubs usually have to spend close to 1500$ for their kids. The only way I think around it is if American parents start sending their children to European countries, that have the best clubs in the world which I don't see happening anytime soon.

They simply need to revamp it. Do they want to is another story. The mls and USSF is so anti Europe with this tho.
I also think it has a lot to do with the NCAA. If the soccer players with potential skip going to college and instead chose to go pro before their 18th birthday, then the noise from the other sports will get even louder regarding the same issue, sports such as basketball. And that could cost the NCAA billions.

I agree. The NCAA makes its money with football. Soccer is different. You can’t get the best training in this sport through college. In fact, college is worthless with this sport. . Baseball figured that out kinda. But if basketball players start either going to the nbdl or even overseas, then it’s a wrap for college basketball.

Again tho, football (I’m getting more annoyed with the word soccer more and more lol) is different. Can’t run that sport like the other American sports.

So. Cal
The USSF and MLS need to pull their heads out their ass and implant the Euro system. There has been several opportunities to do so and many coaches at a minor level had say they would love to come teach Americans at a young age but these stubborn fukks who run this shyt system atm want to breed their own crap system. Have they not noticed how much of a failure their shyt is? They really dont give a fukk about developing kids to be on a world level....shyt is pathetic

NCAA is crap for players development. Instead of NCAA..mls should be promoting the academies more and have players come through it. Toronto fc and vancouver whitecaps are already seeing how good the academies be with player like raheem edward, hamilton, chapman, marco bustos and alphonso davies coming through it and joining the first team squad.

The only good academies in states are fc dallas and maybe new york redbulls. but thats about it. All other ones are shyt. They also need to scrap this MLS draft cause its garbage. If players from NCAA want to join they will have to impress the coaches through trial.

Also setting up a more comepetitve youth league would be nice. Maybe a youth concacaf champions league. So the young players can play against other top academies from mexico or central america.
