US plays in the CONCACAF....a garbage fukking conference (U.S., Mexico, Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago, Costa Rica, Panama).:hhh:

Top 3 teams qualify for World Cup...4th place team goes into a playoff against an Asian team.

US managed to finish 5th by losing to fukking Trinidad & Tobago when the team just needed a tie:bryan:

Now I don't have to listen to that bullshyt "I believe that we will win" "fukk yea 'Murica" corny ass chant from US fans or hear these soccer pundits make up some fairytale about the US making a run in the WC

What's worse is... Gonzalez scored a fukking own goal on Howard instead of clearing the ball. :snoop:

Where does the US go from here? I like what I see from Pulisic as he’ll definitely be a cornerstone for this team going forward. Woods as well. Outside of that, it’s a toss-up. The US as whole needs to start developing their soccer talent more and it starts right at this moment.
only thing that could save the US is if somehow they were able to market soccer in a way that made it cool to young black kids.

this is why soccer will never be mainstream brehs. we just suck at it.
You could argue that Title IX is the reason we'll never be good. There's no incentive to pursue soccer for American males, you got a better chance getting a full ride as a kicker or punter than a soccer player.

There's 300 million people in this damn country. You telling me we can't field a team of 11 who can make it to the WC and advance to through a game in the knockout round?

AND win or show out in other international tourneys? IT'S NOT THAT MUCH TO ASK :damn:

That's not how this works...

India has 1 billion people, never been in a world cup.... don't even LIKE football.

Uruguay has only 3 million people (less people than the entire city of NYC), historically won the cup twice, and is one of best teams in the world,..

Eh, wrong correlation.

Sucking has NOTHING to do with a country liking a sport. Those are 2 separate things.

Football is the national sport in almost every country on Earth. Only 32 teams qualify, and only 16 even get a glimpse at the trophy.

Countries don't need to win at a sport to love it. My parent's country haven't qualified in over forty years... still the national sport.

the U.S. "liking" soccer wouldn't suddenly make them better.INVESTING in resources and youth development would.
America rolls with the winners.

Once you take out women we're left with 140 million or so men, take out everyone under 18 and over 40, what are we left with athletics wise?

Edit: Also the kids with hoop dreams, football dreams, hockey dreams and baseball dreams aren't playing soccer even if they suck at their dream sport.

The fix is an easy one. Get rid of pay to play

I’ve seen some dumb things said

This
This is up there :what:

I wouldn’t say it’s dumb. Freddy Adu was meant to be a cornerstone for the US team as he was on the rise but...all of a sudden, he just got worse over time. He was a good player, just lacked focus.

America produces elite athelets almost across the board, kids with the athletic ability to be elite are here. They just need proper development, it's not like football or basketball where just overwhelming size/speed/strength gives you a huge advantage.

I wonder what would be the consequences of that? Would we lose even more talent because of it. But at the same time, we would see whom would really commit themselves to US Soccer.
