I like Usher, he is okay singer.
Its hard for me to put him in the legend category with MJ, Kells, The Isleys The Temptations, Marvin, Stevie, and etc.
I think he is a clear step below legend status because he, at his best was just the voice and package for Dupri, he was never really his own man with his own sound and style.

I'd even have him a few levels below the greats level, with folks like Boyz 2 Men, Bobby Womack, 4 tops, ojays, and etc.

he is in that Frankie Beverly category for me, good albums, imho, My Way (which hasn't aged well), 8701, and Confessions. He'll have some songs you'll break out, but unlike Frankie Beverly he doesn't have a strong voice at all.

Sucks it had to be Usher. For those arguing his legendhood, the single 'Yeah' literally rocked for an entire year straight. Confessions was like a modern day thriller. He fukked up by taking too long to drop a follow up in my opinion.

He fukked up marrying a middle aged woman at the height of his popularity. That demon stole his soul. It's been downhill ever since. :mjcry:

Atlanta was on fire when "Yeah" first dropped. I remember being in my car on 85 when V-103 premiered it. 808s damn near blew my speakers out. :wow:

You can't talk about r&b music over the last 25 years without talking about usher.

My way, 8701, confessions are staples in the r&b genre.

I don't see how people are saying usher isn't legend when he's been in the game for over 20 years with 2-4 critically acclaimed albums,

Classic records for days, awards, and he's one of the last r&b artists from the 90s still doing it on the mainstream level, and he had the last diamond album to come out of the r&b genre as well.

To add on he's one of the greatest entertainers of all time and arguably the greatest entertainer of his generation.

Usher`s whole style has been smooth. From the dancing to the singing.

He's influenced bieber, trey songz, Chris brown, neyo, Miguel, omarion, etc.

Usher has well over enough to be considered a legend.

I talk about R&B without mentioning easily. He isn't the be all and end all.
To be honest he is actually a pretty bad MJ clone IMHO.
Greatest entertainers, i've seen better I saw the man he tried to emulate and failed. vocally he isn't even top teir, and I've never been a huge dancing guy, but i've never seen him emulated to the extent that MJ was.

He influenced Bieber, okay.
Trey Songz is a R. Kelly clone.
Chris Brown is a MJ clone
Neyo is a MJ clone
Miguel is a prince clone
Omario is a MJ clone.

He's had influence over all of them.

Usher is one of the best when it comes to singing and dancing simultaneously.

You telling me you can have a conversation about r&b over the last 25 years and easily not mention usher???:stopitslime:

Y'all just ain't tryna give usher his props.

It's beyond ridiculous.:mjlol:

He had influence, No MJ had influence over all of them because all of them are trying to catch up to MJ.
Usher one of the best, no, sorry, he is no MJ. He is no prince. He is no James Brown. He isn't even close to it. Mainly because he can't fukking sing.
Yes when i talk about R&B with my peers we talk about singers, not hits, Usher has hits, very successful, his voice is what makes almost always ignored or not talked about. Same with 112, hits, no strong singers in the group. Whereas Sisqo, Kci and jojo, R. Kelly, Carl Thomas, Eddie Levert, Aaron hall, and etc those are the people I talk about when talking about R&B. I'll throw in Anthony Hamilton, maxwell, babyface, Kevon edmunds, MArc Dorsey, and etc as well.

Usher to me isn't in that class, and maybe its because I'm a bit older so I didn't grow up listening to and thinking Usher was the be all end all, because i know who he was listening to as well, and i heard and saw the MJ videos and concert films.

So many things that's wrong with this post. Usher has been one of the biggest artists over the last 25 years. You telling me that you can overlook usher's contributions to the r&b genre, but you can mention sisqo???:snoop:
Usher can't sing??????:why:

Being MJ lite isn't a contribution to R&B.
JD contributed to R&B in the 90s, to try to put his R&B influence on Usher is wrong IMHO.
35 years of R&B, nikka Usher is 37. Stop it.

I mention Sisqo because he is a flat out better singer than Usher and has a distinctive powerful voice.
Nice you posted a lot of videos of Usher singing terribly. congrats.

I meant 25 years, but you get the point.
You really tryna disregard usher's classic albums and records. If we're talking about r&b over the last 25 years there's no way we can skip over the critically acclaimed albums and classic songs that usher has given to the r&b genre.

Usher singing terribly. You not tryna hide the hate:russ:.

The fact is there's no way you can look at usher's resume and not consider him a legend.:dame:

If usher is just okay to you then that must mean that a lot of singers are below average.:yeshrug:

WHAT??

this doesn't even make sense.
