I agree, if you present them with the option that releasing the images would prevent this from happening in the future (it won’t in this specific instance but if we keep doing it then it might) I think their choice is obv. I know as a parent I would want the images of my dead children everywhere to know that their blood is on politicians hands for inaction.

But when people say the police should be defunded you get a bunch of bootlickers that can't wait to defend the cops.

Uvalde has 40% of its budget to the police. All that body armor, all those AR-15's. etc, just for them to stand in a hallway while kids are being slaughtered. The same police that shoot black men in the back 60 times. Tax dollars going to waste.

People will focus on the wrong thing from this. It will be how cowardly the cops were, but it should show that even cops in a group, with all the tactical gear are scared of a fukking AR-15 that people can get easier than a driver's license. It should show that "good guys with a gun is nonsense. People are human beings at the end of the day, be they cops, solldiers or whoever and weapons of war freely available in a society is a disaster.

Yes, exactly. I see a lot of MAGA types openly criticizing the police for the first times in their lives. But they are not making the connection that you made that assault rifles are terrifying weapons that will make most humans freeze up. There’s a reason police unions across the country were unanimously against lifting the ban on them.
