States don't really have signature sounds. Just locales. Virginia's fairly big and spread out. NOVA is basically D.C. and they were always about that go-go shyt. Not much in the way of hip-hop. Richmond doesn't have much of an identity. Most of the rest of the state is rural and/or cacced up. You're not going to have a hip-hop movement come out of some nondescript as place like Roanoke. The 7 cities had to do it for the whole state.

Teddy Riley isn't from there, but he moved there around 90 or so and had a studio in VA beach. He inspired a young Chad and Pharrell. He gets a lot of respect because he moved there and put on for the area when it was nothing. Shot the Rumpshaker video in VA beach with homegrown dimes.

The area has a huge crab in the barrel mentally. Take timberland he has not put on anyone from the area that did not come up with him same can be said for the neptunes.

You can truly say this about most top producers... it's not exactly something Timbo or Chad and Pharrell are more guilty of than anyone else.

Timb was a huge contributor to Jay-Z's career, gave Jay-Z hip hop classics, and last time I checked, Jay-Z got money stacks bigger than them little fux.
Shook Ones is on another level compared to BP.
Timb never reached the heights Hav did to even fall off like Hav did.
