How many $20 tips before you're over the minimum wage threshold? If he's eaten $50 worth of food $20 would be generous....but since he spent $500 he's a miser. Either $20 is a good tip or not

They should do what we do here...include everything in the price including taxes instead of shaming people into subsiding the employer. It must be a nightmare to go out as a group in the US.

The price you see is the price you pay. If people want to STILL tip beyond that then that's their prerogative but no one scrutinises their behaviour.

I tip well, but I frequent the same places over and over again and people bring me my food without me having to order it as a result.

Tipping has led me to not waiting, skipping lines and just being greeted like an old friend by wait staff.
