its inflated because you are subsidizing the cost and paying for the full price of the phone on the back end, after 24 months you are still paying for your inflated plan while someone on a financing plan at least gets a break, what is hard to comprehend about this??

lol people really think these carriers having been taking $300-$600 hits per phone all these years, as just a cost of doing business :mjlol: .... people just have to get it into their heads that they were always paying the full costs for these phones...it's not really the consumer's fault, as that was the way it's been presented to them all these years

exactly, like I Said Consumers are dumb and think they are getting a deal because they see a low up front price and dont realize they are getting raped on the back end. Even though VZW and ATT are not cheap at least they are giving you a break on the rolled in cost of phone if you pay it off in 24 months/in full/ bring your own phone. Dudes think they got a deal because they paid 99 up front for a phone not realizing the cost of the phone is rolled into their plan. the only folks juuging are folks with super old and cheap grandfather plans, and they can keep them plans simply by buying phones in full (which many arent used to doing).

I buy all my phones straight up every time. I upgrade maybe every 3 years or so. I'm on cricket $35/month unlimited talk/text 2.5 GB of data. I been ditched the major carriers that price gouge. I work all day I don't got time to be sitting on my phone usin up data. Once I get home I'm on WiFi. I'm due for a phone upgrade this fall tho.
This. I got a note 4 from my brother for free and im on cricket with the 5 gb plan. So I only pay 58$ a month for everything. Fukk Sprint and all major carriers, I always felt they were fukking nikkas raw dog

I'm sorry bro! I have to figure out how to sell this bs. These prices just came out of nowhere and it goes into effect in less than a week :dwillhuh:. I have new customers coming in that are waiting for the new iPhone to drop based on my recommendation :martin:. There has to be more to this.... We have 2 year contract promotions that just started that run into September. Business accounts are not even set up to do the device payments yet. I'm going in early tomorrow to get more info.... right now it looks like customers stuck on free phones and flip phones are about to take that L. Higher priced phones like the Note and the 6+ ain't going to move like they used to.... but I'm going to wait and see though.

I still got my unlimited with a 50% discount though :blessed:

Why is it that customers who are on free/cheap phones gonna take an L?

your broke hating ass would use garbage ass cricket :heh:
Nah, many people aren't down with paying more monthly rather than getting a phone on an upgrade for $200.

It WILL hurt sales a bit, its almost incomprehensible to not think that it won't.

Your options are:
Get a phone for $700+
Get one for ZERO down, but raise your monthly bill by about $40 per month per line, BEFORE insurance.

The ones without self control will jump on it quick, but smart buyers on a budget won't be as eager to make that move. I expect Android and Windows Phone sales to see a little spike because of this, unless Apple counters with a $300 off-contract iPhone. I am sure this was talked about with Apple and Verizon, I expect the new iPhone to be released in just over a month and under 2 months to clear all the upgrade eligible iPhone group and avoid media backlash at time of launch.

Sprint is in a weird position, if I were them I would STICK with the contracts through this next iPhone release and see how it can possibly help them since they are the only carrier that offers all options.
talking down payments on phones :mjlol:

god damn broke people disgust me

We will be only offering 1gb of data as the lowest tier.... so basically customers with basic phones will have to pay for a smartphone data plan once they upgrade and also full price for their flip phone as opposed to the 99 cents plus upgrade fee. And customers who would rather get the 'free' phone as opposed to doing device payments dont have that choice anymore and you can't keep your old plan...... an example would be a customer who's perfectly happy with a decent free phone like the Droid Maxx and a $60/2Gb plan will go from paying the $40 upgrade only up front and 60 pls tax on their bill will now have to pay $20 in phone taxes upfront for the phone and their bill will $45 for 3gb + $20 access fee + 16.67 for device each month.... Just upgrading moves the plan from $60 to $81.67.

Short version: Everybody pays full price for the phone now. No more basic phone plans. No more low cost single line plans. Every plan is like the unlimited data plans where unless you bring your own phone or pay full price for your new phone, you will have to switch to new plans.

Ah ok I thought maybe our plans would change even if we don't upgrade. I got a cheap phone to use it as a phone and only as a phone. My current plan is no data and 700 mins with unlimited text for $30. As long as that doesn't change then I'm good.

That's right you can keep that plan... but if you ever switch plans you won't be able to get it back.

www.ting.com

Stop paying these companies $50+ a month for shyt you dont really need. Ting can save you money if you can rely on wifi and use LTE sparingly. You can bring your own phone.
My average bill is $25 with them.
use my link so i get this month free

I still don't understand this move tbh.

You are essentially having people walking out the door with a $700+ phone for "ZERO" down...so instead of at the very least securing $200 or so on DAY 1...they get nothing with the possibility that the person can stop paying their bill shortly after getting the phone. It doesn't matter if you block the phone...you don't even secure the $200 you would have in the first place :snoop:

I don't understand how that makes any sense at all for the business and hurts the consumer by inflating the phone bill on a month to month basis by doing them a "favor" with zero down :snoop:

Yeah... I don't see how this change helps the business or the customer. If you're going to pay full price anyway, why not just do prepaid? It's pretty much the same service but cheaper with no messy contracts and no worrying about overages. Plus you can leave whenever you want... if you have a phone like the nexus 6 that you can put on any network you want.

$45 on prepaid with autopay gets you unlimited talk text and 2GB. Another $20 gets you an extra 3GB ($10 fo 1GB) and that extra 3 rolls over for 90 days so that's $65 for 5GB and you may not even have to pay $65 every month. 6gigs on the new plan is at least 80 plus you have to pay taxes.

This no contract thing only effects new customers.

I'm due for an upgrade after the 13th and when I called they said anyone that has a plan before the 13th won't be affected by this change.
