sorry man. if you don’t understand that Mary j Blige has hip hop classics (Real Love, I Can Love You, Jamboree) where she never raps a bar, then we’re never gonna get anywhere with this debate.
all those folks are 100% hip hop, fwiw. the culture is just being expressed in a different format.

@mobbinfms you're my fam on here since day one, but I think if you really think about it, you might see Mary J, Aaliyah, and a lot of those artists as being just as hip-hop as anyone else.
I get that certain R&B artists brought a hip hop swag and aesthetic to the music in the 90s and Puff had Jodeci and Mary singing over classic hip hop beats, but they were always R&B singers.

Hell no. They had label issues and the lane changed when DipSet came through.
