I watched some YouTubers' reaction to Cash Money versus No Limit. Mostly claim to be the biggest Cash Money fans, and they didn't even know the name of the song when CM played the "Rich N!ggaz" song, and many of them called this song, "We On Fire" shyt had me :snoop:

😂Only? They have more crossover appeal because they knew how to stay relevant, adapt and pivot. It’s why you still hear CMR slang and songs/flows sampled currently.

30 years later and Baby is out on-stage at the hottest Black tour is wild, but to be expected because they’ve had the longest run in hip-hop history.

P’s formula has always been to imitate and make quick money with no long term efficiency. It hit HARD but had no staying power.

Nationally NL was on poppin in 1997-late 1998 until CMR came and took over in 1999 (no pun intended) being more authentically New Orleans and innovating.

CMR never fell off anywhere near the absolute drop NL had where they just started started straight up imitating CMR in every way.

And I say this as somebody who was a big NL fan since Down South Hustlers and P’s very first Southern hit “Bounce Dat Azz” (Bout It hit a lil later when the video got Rap City play in early 1996)

2001 ans 2002 what was CMR hits in those 2 years??

Cmr had no roster, had po man Birdman trying to carry the label.

Wayne was on his last leg and the new acts (just like no limit new acts to their label) was not cutting it.

My debate is that CMR is relevant because, they had air play, videos and 2004 Wayne saved the label.

If 2004 Wayne doesn't go into those squad mixtapes cmr will be on the same stance as No Limit.

I don’t know what you’re even trying to debate.

I never said NL had none. But I did say that CMR has way more old songs that are relevant and played at the current young Black generation’s events.

I aint even saying NL didn’t have hits. But their hits are more for the 40 & up crowd and CMR has more crossover to the current generation.

Thus, Saturday was the first time most people heard/saw those NL songs performed. CMR is on tours, Tiny Desk concerts, etc with their names out there so it’s less of a “wow” factor.

Alotta these people on here are the same ones who didn’t realize how big Youngboy really is lol.
No matter how you tangle & twist it, No Limit won.

Still Fly is one of their signature hits, came out in ‘02…the album went platinum

What Happened to that Boy, another classic off a gold album, came out in ‘02

Mack 10’s Cash Money album came out in ‘01, went gold..:had one of WSC’s signature songs on it in Connected 4 Life

Slow Motion came out in ‘03 and was the #1 song in the country…the album Juvi the Great went platinum

The bolded is false because of two things

1. No Limit went bankrupt and P lost the catalog in the early 2000s…for all intents and purposes No Limit died and had been dead for something approaching 30 years

2. Baby has developed talent too many times, independently of each other, to just chalk up the labels longevity to just Wayne..there’s an entire generation of Cash Money with certified classics like Drag Em In the River that pre date the Hot Boy era…I don’t see a timeline where Cash Money has a couple year run and becomes an embarrassment for decades like P and his repeated hilarious attempts to rebuild NL

Coulda should woulda lol. The thing is they’ve always known how to pivot to adapt with the times.

Set It Off
From Her Mama
Still Fly
Oh Yeah
Way Of Life
F**k You (this was big in the clubs)

Here goes the ENTIRE BET crowd going WILD singing along to “Way Of Life” in 2002:blessed:

They also had the SQ mixtapes that a helped raise and influence a whole generation.

It ain’t CMR fault they knew how to stay relevant and NL fizzled out relatively quick:yeshrug:
