"Arghhhh back in my day we would get piledrived headfirst onto the hardwood floor, lose pints of blood and have both benches and the crowd erupt into a huge brawl and the most we would get was a 2 shot foul. We were rowdy and rough back then. All these players today care about is having a clean game and leaving with their limbs intact. I can't stand this generation." :flabbynsick:

These old dudes always talk out of their ass about the current defense. The defensive schemes are a lot better in today league; also, the referees are calling less calls than they did in the past. I don't see any problem with today defense and foul calls. The NBA is doing fine. The quality of the game would have been even better if the East didn't suck so badly because of injuries.

I'm sorry but most of what GP is saying here is bullshyt...

First he talks about being from Birds era when they played in the league together for a grand total of 24 months.. Much of which Bird was injured and being out West in Seattle gave them 2 match ups a year ..

Then he said that the refs let them play and be more physical, while pointing out that he fouled out a lot as an example..

:wtf:

He says there is only 3 good point guards in the league..While being from Oakland where Steph Curry is beasting and also shytting on Lillard who points to him as a mentor..

Then he said 1 year college players aren't good except Kobe and Bron...Like Durant, Melo, Bosh, Love, Rose and them ain't shyt...

I'm all for some good 90s dikk ridin like the next man my age, but he sounds crazy....
I'm sick of it.

The pace is even close to what it was when he was playing

the floppin and cryin is outta control, but honestly alot of these new school athletes would dominate those players, lebron would put his nuts all in the gloves face, most wont admit tho cause they want the era they grew up in to alway be the best

when you get physical with a player, it can take you out your game. i think lebron would do great in the old days. but im not sure he could handle the physical aspect on a 82 game basis.

I don't need to see stats to show me this olay defense these cats play nowadays. Didn't they have to make up new rules to stop the constant flopping and of course no hand checking and if your body touches him FOUL.

I told you to check the stats to view the disparity in numbers of foul calls between this era and previous decades. The referees were blowing the whistle a lot more in the past than they do now. Even with the restriction on handchecking, the 80s and 90s still average more foul calls than this season. The game of basketball is still physical. The difference between the past and the present is that flagarant calls are being enforce to reduce nonsensical physical fouls in the present. Players are actually playing better defense without the nonsensical hacking which resulted in less foul calls. Adequate defensive schemes are an employed by many current teams than the desparate attempt to make a defensive stop such as throwing an elbow at a superstar's face while he is driving to the lane. Gary's opinion on the league is mere bias. It is hard to take him serious when his views favored his era.

If Reggie Miller skinny ass can survived 82 games of basketball in the 90s and average 20 pts, Lebron who is stronger, tallers, and athletic should be able to handle the physicality in the 90s. :stopitslime:

If Lebron was played in that era he would play the same as them cause that's all he would know, imagine if Lebron got physical and was allowed to do that shyt, there would've been a lot of injured players especially all those so called defensive specialist like the glove
