Because Kobe brought them 5 rings and 7 NBA Finals appearances...including 2 rings and 3 Finals Appearances when it was widely stated he would never ever get to 1 NBA Finals, let alone win, without Shaq and after being at the bottom of the league in 2005:dahell:
but duncan gave the spurs 5 titles in only 6 tries :sas2:

What is LATELY?:mindblown:

You're just gonna keep giving an undescribed time of lately, but fail to see Kobe was given a contract from what he did PRIOR to 2015...so why would he restructure for money he ALREADY EARNED?:dahell:

Well why not ? :sas1:

Undescribed time :why: Do you even look my responses or skip through them. I said WHAT HAS HE DONE SINCE 2010??? Not before.:snoop:
Has he got his 2015-16 check like the season check he got after tearing his achilles? The Steve Nash mess got a lot of heat and rightfully so. This is becoming deja vu

Keep blaming every one else in the Lakers organization but the elephant in the room.

Do you even know how contracts work?:dahell:

You are paid upon what you have DONE and what it looks like you will continue on at. Once again:

The facts are, Kobe already had a 3 year contract for 83.5 million from 2012-2014...and then he signed a 2 year extension for 48.5 million in November 2013 for the 2015 & 2016 season.

In order to earn that, Kobe over his LAST deal (2012 & 2013 seasons because he was injured all but 6 games in the 2014 season and didnt play again until AFTER he signed the new contract) averaged 27.6 pts, 5.5 rebs, 5.4 assts, 1.3 stls, and shot 44.8% FG in 38.6 minutes per game going to 2 NBA All-Star Games, being 2x All-NBA 1st Team, 1x All-Defensive 2nd Team, and finished 4th in 2012 and 5th in 2013 in MVP voting

Kobe was ALSO eligible to make $32 million per year, but instead DIDNT demand or request the full amount he could've taken of 2 years $64 million...giving back 8 million per or $16 million over 2 years

Tell a player who finished 4th and 5th in MVP voting the 2 seasons before signing a contract extension, that giving up 8 million a year wasnt enough and he should be making only 10-12 million a year brehs:what::camby:

:comeon: Team is just reminding me of the 1998-99 Bulls right now. There is no direction of the team because Bean is holding it back.

10-12 million a year? Where did you pull up those numbers from? I didn't say that. I was just asking if Kobe really want to bring talent back to LA like he's saying he's trying to recruit, why not?

He's a gift and a curse for the organization right now.

Great interview! Loved every second of it as we understood Kobe's nature and how he approaches the game of basketball. You can tell that he's a man whom is very passionate about the game and is willing to learn and do what it takes to be a winner. Not a lot of people have that type of desire which makes it such a joy to watch him play as he's always looking to refine his game while pushing people around him to get on his level. What made me like him even more here was when he talked about leadership and having to have uncomfortable situations so that the team can reach the highest level. You have to want to bring the best out of people knowing that it will piss them off. It's nothing personal. It's about getting the maximum potential out of you.

Overall, it's definitely been great watching him elevate his game and now coming down in his final years. His desire for the game seems as strong as ever. Hopefully, he leaves the game on a high note. Definitely going to miss watching him play the game of basketball.

Great interview. I hope he goes out on a high note - at the very least, has an injury-free season, plays well, and has some team success (making the playoffs would be great). I'm very pessimistic about all of that but hope I'm wrong.
