Flipside to that is that it seems like the generic thing to do and people would say Nas is still holding on to that era. Like I said, I think the concept was dope and the use of the sample as well...but the execution felt lazy cause they did it not like a proper music video.

Imagine if they did all that but with the same sense of urgency, it would have just looked like a smack dvd video

I feel you but the point should of been for NaS to try and re-capture that era. Like NaS just sitting down watching TV? Really? he didn't even rap the bars. "NaSty" had a better "Represent" vibe than this. Again I know this was just NaS reaching out to his fans so I can't even really knock it but this just doesn't fee like an "ILLmatic" video. The point again should of been to capture that essence.

It would have been much better if they didn't go the artsy-fartsy route and just did what Doggie Diamondz was doing when he was making new videos for songs from old albums. Like this:

yea nothing much to the video...reminds me of how Nas raps nowadays. Lazy no hunger. But he's still one of the best there ever was.

That's enough Illmatic my nikka

MJ ain't keep pushing Thriller 20 years later

Kanye ain't push the College Dropout a decade later

If Jimi Hendrix didn't die he wouldn't have pushed Electric Ladyland 20 years after it came out
