Reduce season to 65 games. Play in division teams three times and all out of division teams twice. Games will mean more if there are less of them.
AC Green expended energy offensively?82 games is fine, the league needs to start extremely start cracking down on load management.
If AC Green bumazz didn't skip out on games just about any other play can go out and play.
I'm so tired of hearing people act baffled or like they don't understand why players need so much rest now or get injured more compared to the past. Players run up to 3 miles more per game than they did in the past. Is an extremely fast paced game and the human body can only take so much. Players will continue to get injured and the smart thing will always be to let them sit out when they can.The game today puts far more stress on a player’s body than it did in the past. I don’t know why we need to keep having this conversation.
THIS. These dudes don't understand how much even one game generates for teams, arena staff, players, coaches etc. There's a reason the league has been ADDING games cuz they make so much fukking money. They added the in-season tournament game, they added the play-in games, they changed the first round from best of 5 to best of 7. These are ALL monetary decisions.
Then the record books get fukked up because 82 games is no longer the standard.
I don't see any future with less games.
Shoot, the NHL is going to a 84 game schedule next season so they get more divisional games for teams. It’s far more likely NBA adds games to regular season than to take away imo.THIS. You wanna play 79% of the games currently played. Fair enough. I agree on that.Reduce season to 65 games. Play in division teams three times and all out of division teams twice. Games will mean more if there are less of them.

Couldn’t have said it better.
These athletes today supposedly “superior” but need more rest and less games ?Something ain’t adding up.
You work to get to the league, now it’s your job to play basketball when you not injured. Wemby skipped a whole game vs Joker just to play the weak ass hornets a day later, now he talking about “imma play cause I want mvp and dpoy”.

I’m fairly certain most people talking that shorten the season shyt don’t manage money in their actual life lol
“We should do this! We should do that!”
WHAT ABOUT THE MONEY?!! haha
Its sports...players are gonna miss games. Taking away wear and tear and injury risk will only help in that regard. The other thing that plays a major role in this is the playoff field. More than half the conference makes the playoffs, 2/3 if you count the play-in and its 4 seven game series. Why am I gonna take a long ass regular season seriously when if you got a pulse you are in and we see now more than ever its about being healthy come playoff time?People keep saying to shorten the season when nobody, from owners to players wants to lose that money. Also newsflash: just because you shorten the season doesn't mean players still won't miss games.
Anybody with sense understands the financial angle here. Just like I am sure owners understand that less would be more. But they dont care because they bout they bread. I dont care bout they bread, I am focused on my entertainment. You wanna play 79% of the games currently played. Fair enough. I agree on that.
Bring up a 21% pay cut to the NBAPA, let me know how that goes![]()
I understand that, I'm also not complaining about players missing games knowing how the game has changed (pace, movement, some players dealing with constant injuries, etc.). They're entering the league with extreme wear and tear as it is. I just don't see a world where if the game is still being played the same, that would magically help players not miss games. And you even mentioned this won't happen so we may be beating a dead horse. Its sports...players are gonna miss games. Taking away wear and tear and injury risk will only help in that regard. If it was top 4 in each conference make it with a true lottery we'd see way less load managing, extreme caution with injuries, and tanking. But that fact that none of this will ever happen lets you know where the focus is.

It's not about how many games you play it's about how much you run, jump, cut,, give contact, receive contact, etc.
If you take how many times a player did all that on a per game basis and said "doing this this number of times equals one game" and then compared it to how often players do it today, the players today are actually playing way more than 82 games.
I'm watching Moussa on Saturday basically have to guard Wemby from one step past half court. He has to go through screens, he has to switch, he has to play drop coverage but he might also have to step up and show or he might have to hedge or he might have to ice and he was having to do all this stuff multiple times in one possession, where as someone like Alonzo Mourning and Shaq played drop coverage and drop coverage only for an exceptional high amount of their career defensive possessions.
Measuring basketball games in number of games played is the most inefficient way to measure basketball.
An NFL game is about 11-12 minutes of actual play, so given that offense and defense plays as much, a play that plays every single snap will play about 94 minutes over a whole season82 NBA games ain't shyt compared to 17 NFL games...
Man up and fuhking play..goofy ahhs league
There is only so much running and jumping you should be doing in practice when you have to go do it in a game at exceptionally high intensity. There is lots of data that shows there is a point where your actual physical training is doing more harm than good, which is why there is such a focus on rest and recovery in sports now.If the game has evolved and advanced so much, then the training, instruction, and player rotations should have kept pace.
Nothing is keeping a head coach from making team and practice adjustments for his starters.
