He was my favorite rapper from 8th grade to 11th. Breh got me through highschool. After ambition he just got corny to me, I was a fan of the foamposite, bape, and hundreds wale. The extra shyt he started doing turned me off. Same with Lupe, until he won't me back with T&Y.

I remember when I got my first summer job. All I would listen to was illmatic and the eleven one eleven theory :wow:

He was supposed to be a pop rapper like Flo Rida and Pit Bull but didn't catch on. Ever since then he's been riding waves. He has a lane with that dark skin girl rap but he doesn't want to stay in it cause it gets him no respect. Just know if that Mark Robson shyt popped off he would be Kanye status as far as hate is concerned without the accolades. I can almost guarantee this new album is going to be trash tho.

That's why the shyt is so perplexing to me. The dude CAN rap, and he's clever when it comes to thinking conceptually... he sees his peers winning being themselves and not catering to radio... yet he continues to cater and pander to radio

:mindblown:

That's the shyt that pains me the most. Dude could have done something phenomenal with The Album About Nothing...I mean hell he HAD JERRY SEINFIELD on the shyt. Yet, it was like Save A Lot brand of a Drake album. It's like Wale is afraid of actually embracing his true self. He has the mentality of a high school nerd who wants so badly to be with the jocks that he sabotages his own inner worth to be a carbon copy of something he's truly not.

Such a waste of goddamn talent and it's really so simple. Be the poetic introspective rapper that's putting DC on his back...hell open the doors for the DC music scene. Why is the shyt so hard with Wale:mjcry:?

Fan of Wale, but I can't deny the real spill in this thread. Wale has a shyt ton of dope cuts and verses just randomly floating out there, but his insecurity in his position has him all over the place when it comes to releases.

Still a fan though given that he can drop shyt like this whenever he wants

He's from D.C.

Close the thread. He's from D.C. and he's really from MD.. the identity crisis that has nothing to do with talent strted a long time ago

D.C. Has no identity from a hip hop standpoint and the artists there still struggle to find their own lane.. they're technically in the southern region but are really close to the north...

Who is Shy Glizzy? Fat Trel? Logic? Even logic has no identity

Guy cam flow with the best of them

Wanted to say fukk you for speaking negatively about the city, but this shyt is all facts with the exception of dudes not really chasing the light like Oddisee, XO and Bonney.

Bro... I know the story from how his debut happened. But breh... that Lady Gaga thing happened 9 years ago. He's been rebounded from that, and put out better lead singles/hits since then. He's got on with MMG, Ambition and Gifted were solid well put together records... I still feel like he's hasn't perfected a sound after all this time. Why is that? He's been established, he's known in this industry... why is he doing songs with G-Eazy in 2017 reaching for a radio hit?

He hasn't rebounded from anything...he still isn't as big as he thinks he should be....he's the 3rd most visible guy on a tiny ass imprint....his ego keeps him from being fine with being a quality artist that's why he constantly whines about other MCs.....J Cole called him out for a reason.

Nothing I am saying is saying he's a terrible MC. He just has no unique sound, no unique qualities. If Wale stopped making music today, Hip Hop wouldn't suffer one iota.

He should go high energy hip hop. His feature on trap trap trap is the flow/delivery he should go for from here on. He has the delivery of someone who's feeling himself too much, like he's admiring his own work too much for the listener to appreciate. Like get out of the way of the bars my dude, we'll get it without the snicker.

2 great cuts here, released and just floated away. Not tied to a project :mindblown:

All you did was trigger wale haters:snoop:

You said a whole lot of nothing :what:

G eazy is a well respected figure in the bay

And has songs with raekwon ross philthy rich & many other respected guys

And he's not bad not sure where the hate for this guy comes from is it because hes white:what:

Wale is nothing but a fun loving rapper that can shine on any type of beat from trap, r&b, soul, pop, boom bap to even gangsta beats

Which is the reason you knuckle heads claim he has no style or lane

He's basically the every rappers rapper

Let me preface this by saying... this is not a Wale hate thread. This is more of an observation.

I've been rocking with Wale's music since his mixtape days. Back in like 06, 07. I remember hearing Mixtape About Nothing and being pulled in by the sounds, the lyrics, the concepts... the creativity of the project. I really thought he was going to be great, or at least make an impact from a creativity standpoint in the hiphop genre.

Now, roughly 10 years later, with countless albums and mixtapes and features under his belt, I can honestly say, that this dude's career has been pretty aimless. Typically with artists who have been doing music for this amount of time, they find a groove or a style of their own and improve on it and perfect it.

I listen to Wale's new music and I just shake my head. I don't understand why he's gone down this route, but it appears like he's obsessed with making commercial records for success/fame and appeal. He came in the class with Kendrick, Cole, Big Sean, Drake etc... why is he doing songs like this at this point in his career?

:snoop:

WHY is Wale featuring G-Eazy on a song in 2017? What is the play here? I can't imagine any of the guys he came in the game with dropping a single featuring G-Eazy on it.

:why:

Seriously... I honestly don't get it. I understand that Shine is aimed to be a light spirited fun album. But breh... My PYT and Running Back >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> this Fashion Week song, and those songs are damn near a year old.

I wish this dude would have just stayed true to himself and stuck to the poetic/heartfelt pro black music he was on from time to time. It's like he doesn't know what is best to push for himself from a marketing standpoint... to be the spoken word clever uplifting MC or the cliche brash rich and famous commercial MC.

It's funny cause, look at all the praise and attention Kendrick Lamar got from his natural sisters line/stretch marks bars on Humble... Wale has been on that for years, but it seems like he doesn't even want to push that message as his main vision for himself.

Why not push this instead of that corny G-Eazy shyt? Wale and HipHop fans chime in...

That Fashion Week shyt is garbage..He sees the attention & popularity his peers have..Drake, Cole, Kendrick & he feels the pressure to be on the same level..Crazy thing is he could be if he sticks to his guns as far as sound & singles is concerned..I'm not feeling this singing shyt he's been doing for the last few projects either

Also his delivery & enunciation of words is an acquired taste

My fav Wale song and one of my all-time favorite songs PERIOD. Will listen to this till the day I die:

Why couldn't they have released something like this as a single:snoop:

He does the "lady" joints extremely well, but THIS is the Wale I like.

Dude is actually the most balanced M.C that's come out in awhile and has already cracked my personal top 10 favorite rapper list:

Spin: Wale Is THEEE Most Balanced MC Of This Generation
