Wale career is on the brink of irrelevancy. MMG or whoever is responsible for his roll out need to get their shyt together because it looks like Wale regressing impact wise cause they keep fukking up his releases. TAAN and Festivus were great projects. But they fumbled the release of TAAN and now SHINE. This album should've came out last summer, January 2017 the latest. No heavy hitters came out last year but you wait AGAIN till Drake, Kung Fu Kenny and Sean drop within 3 months of each other. :snoop:

@GoldenGlove has made some great points. IMO Wale inability to make commercial tracks by himself is coming back to haunt him. Same goes for Ross commercially of course. They need to let the music speak for itself instead of delaying delaying forcing single after single. They got no confidence in his music or success. What's worse is Wale is just as talented as Kendrick, Cole, Sean and Drake.

It would serve him well to just shut up and let the music speak for himself.

This has been said multiple times in this thread but Wale cant make up his mind on what direction to take his music.

When he puts out a more conscious record like Black Gold and then puts out garbage like Fashion Week he stops himself from building a fanbase. He wants to be a super successful conscious dude like Kdot or Cole but also wants to be a crossover superstar like Drake yet hes afraid to go 100 on any fukking direction. He's the definition of a half stepper.

I'll put it like this. Look at Kendrick's music since Overly Dedicated as a seed he planted, hes been watering that plant ever since and has never neglected it. From OD to DAMN. He's kept on pushing in the same direction while managing to grow and improve as an artist. Not being melodramatic know social media helps too.

Meanwhile Wale was watering his plant for years but then neglected it and just keeps on planting different seeds that keep dying.

Personally, especially in this age of rabid music consumption it'll be hard for Wale to recover his buzz. Not to say hes not a successful dude who can sell records and will make money for a long time but any hopes of him breaking that mental barrier is probably long gone. He's had his chances.

I dont like Logic but he hasn't continously pandered his music to every demographic like Wale has and he'll probably double up Wale on first week sales.

Does Wale even have a core fanbase? What's his sound even about?
Wale is insanely arrogant compared to his skills and status in the game.

No, there is absolutely nothing he can do about it because that's how he speaks at this point. Listen to the song below posted by @FlyRy. It took me years to pinpoint what it was about Wale and it finally hit me like 6mths ago:
1. His voice is annoying as fukk.
2. He raps like he never closes his mouth.
3. Every punchline is accentuated like you don't get the shyt.

And I'm saying all of this as someone who actually has no real qualm listening to Wale, as all my favorite rappers feature with him all the time. But let's just post some of the features side by side so you guys actually understand what it is about his vocals that possibly turn people off.

These are just some cherry picked examples that came to mind at 2am. Y'all really don't see why people don't like listening to Wale?

Wale has a pretty thick DC accent and hes even true to how we prononce words. As a lifelong resident - I have no issue with understanding what hes saying.

I believe Wale is conscious that his accent may be an issue to people -however he doesnt alter his delivery because at his heart he wants to remain authentic to the DC area.

Wale has not had a good roll out since leaving Roc Nation. He left because Scooter (Beiber's manager) was supposed to fukk with him but switched up and went with Kanye instead. How do you manage to promote an album with Jerry Seinfeld poorly? A commercial with Hov, Wale and Seinfeld sells the album by itself.

Anyhow, I kind of consolidated all my posts in here about Wale into one post:

I just can't hear the words he's saying in his bars :mindblown:. I always go through a phase where I definitely feel a lot of music, but a lot of time his pronunciation has me :rudy:

His biggest issue is that he never switches his flow up. He's got a decent delivery, vocal, etc. but he almost always flows exactly the same damn way. That shyt gets boring, especially compared to someone like Kendrick switching his flow up 10 times in the same damn song.

He's got a bunch of hits that I enjoy. But when I think about it, I always enjoy it cause of the production, the hook, the feature. He's just there standing next to that with a nice lyric every once in a while. Rarely ever any repeatable lines. You need repeatables or people aren't gonna really associate the hit with you. They'll think about Miguel singing Lotus Flower Bomb and forget Wale.

He reminds me of go go: Half of me likes go go. The other half of me is like "I can't hear this same shyt over and over again"

Fashion Week with 160K Youtube views in a week...
Black Spiderman with 1.2M Youtube views in a day...

:francis:

My man Wale went from Big Sean, Kendrick, Cole, and Drake's class to being less popular than Logic

:mjcry:
Logic is one of the best-selling artists in the world. Not many artists sell 200k+ first week.
