Explain to me why non-citizens who spoke no English were at the same benefits center with me when I needed food supplementation...since my job didn't pay enough at the time? This article is selling kool aid by characterizing the thefts as victims earning the benefits of an illegal making money in your name. They are not slick. Having your identity stolen fukks up the rest of your life.
For example, turning in your taxes only to be told not only did someone else do it but they defrauded the IRS of thousands of dollars of refund money in your name.
It's like the article posted here about theft of driver's licenses: the thieves give the authorities your ID so that YOU get in trouble. The cops put out warrants for you, not them.
Same goes for credit fraud, insurance fraud (why are you paying more? because someone jacked your shyt up before leaving the country scot free), medical fraud, all of that shyt.
