Yes they do...assistant coaches matter and they add greatly to the gameplanning, leadership, and philosophy of the team. Have you ever played ball on a team?

Doc Rivers hasn't had a top 5 defense without the G.O.A.T. defensive mind Thibs on his staff and its not because of a lack of personnel...

Mike D'Antoni had the Sixers playing at a higher tempo and their offense improved the second half of last season upon hiring D'Antoni as an assistant...

Tex Winter created the triangle offense and was assistant coach under Phil Jackson during the Bulls and Lakers championship years...

Hank Egan was the mind behind the mid to late 2000's Cavaliers defense he brought over principles from the Spurs...

Did you not just see Ty Lue get promoted from assistant to head coach?

I'm not reading the other examples because well ya, know tl:dr

But you realize I can list countless examples of why these coaches simply aren't important at all right?

Nikka stop being a dumb ass you never played ball on a team thats it you never been coached. You never had to follow a scheme and never had to prepare for games you don't know what you're talking about.

He has Deandre Jordan in the middle I'm not asking for a historically good defense like Boston but at least a defense that ranks top 5 in some major defensive categories. Ignore the point about D'Antoni improving the Sixers offense and Phil Jackson's lead assistant being the inventor of the triangle offense.

List some of these countless examples...

I'm talking the NBA specifically.

The Clippers were 5th in defensive Efficiency this year so what are you talking about?
