Thats all I can think of off the top of my head right now but there was a time when rap didn't rely on repeated 4 bars or singing hooks to make great songs.
What did We Got It From Here do that Compton didn't?
Compton hit almost 300,000 sales first week.
Tribe hit 130,000 first week.
Compton is past Gold already on the way to platinum.
But thanks to that Michelle movie I think all sales are done lol
what did it do? oh i dunno, be original stayed to its roots and respect progression at the same damn time
plus the shyt was a delicious slice of funk.compton was like the most generic weedplate to hit the streets in years.

Those are standout examples though, not the staple sound of an 'era'
Plus most of those older songs with no hook have some kinda callback that let's you know 'hey, you're still listening to the same song.'

I'll also add that while it is a well mixed, well produced and very unique album (in these times) It also doesn't have any big, stand out songs that would continue to get rotation over songs from the dominate sound.
