Clean Dean sold out Joe Louis Arena in July. JBL assuredly wasn't doing that in Summer 2004. Smackdown went from beating raw in ratings, Smackdown six, heyman days to B show status as soon as they made Bradshaw champ. There's a reason Cena chasing JBL isn't half as remembered as Batista chasing HHH at the same time. HHH was the real champ.

you always had more Dean Detractors here than folks that liked him. All those PromethaDean jokes and the like were always fukkery for the sake of fukkery. Most felt like he was neutered from being a drugged out street hooligan and turned into this slapstick Loony Tunes character of a wrestler. Hell, nobody even likes the way he punches or his "Lunatic Lariat" or whatever.
Yes, people cheered when he won the belt, because it was unexpected. A whole lot of fans feel like WWE gives fans exactly what the fans don't want.
But some kind of magical way, it turned into "If you don't want Reigns/Cena as champ, then you obviously must want _________ as champ instead. Now ______ is champ and you STILL unhappy."
Nah. Fans are just tired of predictable, broadcasted booking. So while fans
when Dean won, it was the equivalent of fans when he basically stole the belt and kept it.Hell, dude wasn't over as the US champ.
