Was "Hardhome" the best episode of Game of Thrones? "Night's Watch, with me!"

There's some grievances that are worthy but this isn't one of them. Jon Snow isn't supposed to kill the Night King. If he does why did Arya spend all that time training to be a master assassin?

Everybody in the show had their positions to play.
arya literally had nothing to do with the night king. her storyline was focused around revenge for her friends and family members being killed hence why she said their names every night including the hounds name cercei being one of them. which is why she let him die. they pushed her to the night king story when they ran outta content in the books because they are hacks, full stop. the green blue and brown eyes she was supposed to close were the people she wanted to get revenge from...jon had a prophecy connected to him, moved to a faction to see they exist, fights with them, found out how to kill them himself and giving a weapon in season one that would lead to all of this

To avenge the family. :why:

Which she did. :why:

None of that faceless man foolishness helped against the Night King. But it did allow her to get to everybody who had a hand in the fall of the Starks.

His father was a dead man the moment he started playing the game when the king made him the hand and decided to go after cerci. his ego led to his death. Same with rob he thought he navigate shark infested waters the way he wanted to and found it just like his dad that shyt dont fly

Was it arrogance on Ned's part?

I always thought he just didn't know how to play the game. Renly tried to tell him that they needed to kidnap Joffrey and tried to give him the men to do it.

Ned really thought that everybody was gonna stay true to their word cause he never really understood that he was in a snake pit.

And there was no reason for him to ever think about that as long as Robert, his best friend, was alive. He was under the kings protection no matter what he did (his daughter beating up Joffrey, his wife kidnapping Tyrion). He could really get away with murder as long as Robert was alive.

Robert was the only friend he had in Kings Landing and once he got took out by that pig (a literal pig for non watchers who think I'm being facetious), it was over for Ned.

He should have skipped town like Renly did.

Renly had no reason to run, at least the show didn't spell it out. But he surmised (correctly) that the minute his brother died, he was on borrowed time in Kings Landing and so he got out of dodge.

All of that was so well written tho. He thought he had every angle figured out just like his father and ended up just like him

That ish was NOT well written.

A king on a war campaign for independence, throws away an important betrothal for a sassy wandering nurse?

That ish was so stupid and anachronistic against the world they were building that I'm surprised it made it out the writer's room.

The book canon makes way more sense, considering the age of Robb vs his age in the show.

A man past twenty in his position would have NEVER pulled that kinda ish.

That was the first clue that the people behind the show didn't understand what they were doing, at all.

You said it yourself...his problem was believing wolves have honor. He was the only honorable person in king's landing when everybody including littlefinger told him to wise up. He didn't believe in grey areas even tho he was lying to his wife about Jon. shyt he hated jaime for killing the MAD king even tho it saved thousands. His old world views lead to his death. his hard head lead to his death. Robert in the books had in-depth conversations about the people of kings landing and all the spy's everywhere. The reason he can navigate them was The reputation and the fear people had of him even when he became a fat clown. He was the demon who took down Rhaegar Targaryen one on one and won a war single handedly

The story isn't supposed to foreshadow Arya killing the Night King because that is too flat of an arc, y'all want lineal stories where the obvious hero makes the obvious final move when nothing about GOT was based in straightforwardness.

The point is that everybody ended up doing what was best for the Seven Kingdoms or dying. Arya avenged her family but her path called for a higher/greater purpose than serving her own wishes alone.

I don't care for how Jon Snow ended up either because he was the perfect king and there was a way they could've done it but Arya killing the Night King made sense.

It was well written because it showed his humanity. Many princes and kings have made questionable moves over a woman. Wars have been started over women.

Robb, like everyone else, didn't have his father's honor. Literally no one in the world had Ned's honor which is a backbone in the show and why that world is the way it is.

Arya killing the night king outta the blue was flat. the writers had to julez to even explain why this even happened and is still one of the main things people cite as horrible about the last season besides the mad queen twist... things even in the books things were lineal. just because the outcome was unexpected didnt make it less so. in the books jon didnt want to be the hero he was pushed to being one and was doing his job. He wasn't a king in the book they made him one after they ran out of content if you look at all the shyt they added you see clear as day these people were hacks. They moved pieces and removed things from the book and even from the show to even get her to that castle in the first place when she wasn't even supposed to be there.. It was like they seen no country for old men and was like ooooooooh lets do that.

How is something unexpected flat? She went from a revenge-driven little girl to a young woman who did what she had to do at the time to save the world. Writers had to juelzed it because it's one of those things where people (like y'all) want to be rewarded with the clear solution you thought was coming. The show was not written to be lineal as the books so that's moot.

The show also began to outpace the book so sticking 100% to source material wasn't possible and isn't as entertaining as you think.

Jon not desiring to be a hero or king is the exact reason why he was the perfect king, he did the right thing every single time without it being required of him. Everyone else had an obligation or a self-serving agenda for their moves.
Jon Snow would like a word. :wow:
No, Ned would've stayed within his rank and let shyt happen because he made an oath as a Watchman. Jon saw beyond that unwavering sense of by the book honor and broke rules (which meant customs or occasionally oaths) to protect or empower others which is what leaders have to do.

Because that wasnt her story. you brought up the book several times in this post the show and book made it clear what her goal was before they ran outta shyt to use. She never was suppose to even be in the same area as jon..for one he is dead, let alone fighting a war side to side with her family considering thousands of pages of story written for them both. She believed her family was dead. Her entire family is gone and the lannisters how everything to do with it.. She and her resurrected mother they removed from the story was going head first into kings landing for revenge...Her even being there hugging jon and shyt sounds like some shyt somebody on reddit wrote in a basement. this video sums up how the writer of the book felt about the ending
