The problem with baseball is marketing. It really is strange that as much of an individualistic sport as baseball is, they market the team aspect way more than the marquee players.
If they went the way of the NBA and propped up specific star players rather than the teams, I feel like the players would carry just as much popularity, or more, as baseball players usually have way more unique, goofy assed personalities.
baseball really isn't an indivdualistic sport though my nikka
There's Years where the MVP or The Cy YOung winners are from absolutely terrible..
You can have the best pitcher in the Major leagues and he's only going to pitch every 5 days and the team could be horrible.
you could have the best hitter in baseball and he's still only going to have 3-4 at bats a game..shyt, I remember A-Rod winning the AL MVP back in 03, and we had a powerful ass lineup, and we were a shyt team...
And even the NBA has LONG abandoned the idea of marketing specific players because it just didn't work. You see them now marketing trios (OKC, Celtics, ect.) or Great Teams/systems (Spurs/MAvs last yeaR) than individual players because there's so much talent in the league, you don't have to force market any specific player...same thing could be done with baseball, there's never been so much talent on the majors on every roster with so much parity, there's no need to force market specific players, the game itself will sell itself, you don't need a FIGURE like KGjr. or Sosa ec.t
