I dont know anyone who DIDNT try to emulate Griffey's stance and swing at one point in their life.....whether it was little league, wiffle ball, you name it....everybody practiced that stance and sweet swing when I was young.

Griffey and Strawberry had the best swings that I have ever seen...Cano's swing aint too far behind either

Yeah Griiffey jr is the last popular baseball player. Try as we like baseball just isn't popping. Or it isn't popping in the hood like it used to be. Not once do I see kids playing baseball.

Smdh if they only knew that's where they have more chances to go pro.

baseball is popping as a sport..It's never been more popular amongst SPORTS fans.

Baseball players however...are not.

I mean how many of those rednecks and black ass South american kewns can you really relate to.

The problem with baseball is marketing. It really is strange that as much of an individualistic sport as baseball is, they market the team aspect way more than the marquee players.

If they went the way of the NBA and propped up specific star players rather than the teams, I feel like the players would carry just as much popularity, or more, as baseball players usually have way more unique, goofy assed personalities.

baseball really isn't an indivdualistic sport though my nikka

There's Years where the MVP or The Cy YOung winners are from absolutely terrible..

You can have the best pitcher in the Major leagues and he's only going to pitch every 5 days and the team could be horrible.

you could have the best hitter in baseball and he's still only going to have 3-4 at bats a game..shyt, I remember A-Rod winning the AL MVP back in 03, and we had a powerful ass lineup, and we were a shyt team...

And even the NBA has LONG abandoned the idea of marketing specific players because it just didn't work. You see them now marketing trios (OKC, Celtics, ect.) or Great Teams/systems (Spurs/MAvs last yeaR) than individual players because there's so much talent in the league, you don't have to force market any specific player...same thing could be done with baseball, there's never been so much talent on the majors on every roster with so much parity, there's no need to force market specific players, the game itself will sell itself, you don't need a FIGURE like KGjr. or Sosa ec.t

over the past 10-20 years, how many baseball players have even been big in commercials?

Jeter
Griffey
Piazza had a bunch (pert plus commercial *shudder*)
I dont even remember if Arod did
I think Utley had one
Ryan Howard does Subway ads (but so does Jay Glazer... the fukk is that about?)
McGwire and Sosa did some
did Chipper ever have any?
Nomar?
Randy Johnson had a few
I cant even think of anymore. makes no sense that baseball players aren't all over commercials

yea Brian Wilson started getting endorsements right as his act got old.
Halladay had one commercial for a video game.
Prince is on that chevy commercial singing that song that we're supposed to know for some reason.
Papi did have a few, good call.

I'm sure some other yankees had them too that i cant remember.
