Generally speaking a top level perimeter player should have more effect on the game than a top level of post player.

but he didnt, lol.Its amazing how folks bring up that all time scoring shyt. But suddenly forget Jorden retired for several seasons
nikka would have gotten that record had he not
40 years ago
if there was an alltime NBA draft now, Kareem would probably go 5th behind these guys
michael
magic
bird
lebron
but he didnt, lol.
shyt, if Wilt decided to play 3 more years, he would still have the all time scoring record.
MALONE COULD HAVE COME BACK AND CHUCKED FOR ONE SEASON

My uncle swears up and down that Kareem is the GOAT.
His argument? That Kareem had one shot is entire career (23 years including UCLA) and couldn't nobody ever stop it. His skyhook was so good that in over 20 years no one ever blocked it.
hence why you felt the need to shyt on it. If Jordan had the record, it would be another accolade you can use for him.
NO ONE GIVES A fukk ABOUT THAT RECORD.
Absolutely not. Who controls the pace of the game? Who initiates the offense? Who makes the late game decisions? You have Jordan and Abdul-Jabbar on your team, who is making the last decisions at the end of the game? Shaq was better than Kobe, more dominant, but who has controlling the offense at the most important moments of close games? Kareem was better than Magic, same question. Shaq, Wade. There are rare exceptions to this, probably none when the skill level of each player is close.Wrong to the 10th degree
Here's how I would draft
MJ
KAJ or Bron
Shaq
Hakeem
Wilt
Magic
Bird
His high school career is nothing like Kareem's, nor was his college career even.
Kareem is legitimately the greatest college player ever, and it's probably between he and LeBron as greatest high school player ever.
And that's not a slight to Jordan on ANY level, it's just a testament to Cap's greatness.
I don't know who I have between Jordan/Kareem/LeBron as the GOAT, but all of these guys have incredible arguments.
I might take Jordan's peak on my team, LeBron if I were starting a team from scratch/beginning of everyone's career, and Kareem's overall career, so they all have ties to being the GOAT in a way.![]()
being an all time CUMULATIVE scoring leader means nothing next to the all time scoring leader in points per game.
It's the per game statistics that should be used in these arguments, not cumulative totals. MJ could've easily racked up more total points if he stayed an nba player long enough....but could kareem average 30.1 points per game for his entire career?
totals are irrelevant. as far as i'm concerned michael jordan is the all time leading scorer in nba history.
But he DIDN'T.No, YOU don't give a fukk about the record because Jordan doesn't have it. If Jordan had that record you'd be spouting about it all through this thread.MALONE COULD HAVE COME BACK AND CHUCKED FOR ONE SEASON
(Just needed 18ppg)
AND GOT THE RECORD.

This is DEFINITELY not true.A great big controls the most important part of the game which is the rim he can elevate a d all by himself and the team that usually controls the boards wins the games there have been a few guards who have been outliers and have had impacts similar to bigs but the bigs still run this league damn near every great big has atleast led his team to a finals appearance while some hall of fame guards have never got out of the first round or made it past the second
put it this way....we don't know if MJ could've done it, sure. but you can't rule it out, especially considering it's MJ. and Jordan didn't have to perform at his peak to do it either. 3 or 4 more seasons averaging 23 points per game would've done the job.But he DIDN'T.
You can't keep giving this guy credit for things he WOULD'VE done when he DIDN'T do it.
You can't just assume that a player is going to keep his peak performance going for an extra five to seven years, just "because". Longevity DOES mean something. Not everyone CAN have longevity. You don't think Jordan actually benefitted for completely skipping out on seasons? The guy retired the first time because, according to him, he was essentially bored of the game and had accomplished to a level he felt was enough. Does that sound like somebody who was going to have the mentality to just keep his dominance going straight for the next five years?
