The Washington Wizards acquired Kendall Marshall, Shannon Brown and Malcolm Lee on Friday in a deal for Marcin Gortat.

The Wizards will waive those three players as they have a roster crunch.

Bruh, PHX has been Riggin' for Wiggins. This just makes it official.

Me, I'm not sure how I feel about this. That 1st rounder...:damn: Don't get it twisted, Gortat's a solid player, and I get that it's T12 protected, but a #13-19 or so pick next year would've probably been T10 most other years. Gortat really worth a potential #13 pick in this draft? :patrice: Plus you could've used that 1st to get LA or Monroe (either of whom would've really helped this team), if they are/were in fact gonna be moved.

I guess my first instinct is that this is a :manny: trade, but it'll become disastrous if it costs 'em a better trade down the road.

Exactly. At face value it's a good move, but there's better players and players who have higher upside out there (whether they actively entertained these is another thing altogether). Kinda feels like a one step and pass move, rather than a gather and looking to finish one.

Ernie should have went all out to get Monroe, prime spot for him in Washington. Wall/Beal/Otto/Monroe :whoo:

name-names breh, who?

Im not that blown over losing the pick because it means we made the playoffs. Especially over a non-lotto pick.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
shytty trade for the Wizards. They have no young bigs. Could have used that '14 on one even if it's outside the top '12.

And Gortat is an expiring contract. No security in bringing him back

They own Gortat's bird rights, and they have young bigs, Kevin Seraphin is a quality big off the bench.

It's an excellent move for the Wiz, now they have a legit center when Nene inevitably misses time. And with his jumper Gortat will thrive with Wall.

Okafor and a top 12 protected first isn't gonna get them Monroe, they had nothing to give to get him.

Pistons would want Beal for Monroe, and that ain't happening.

Oh obviously they would have to give up more. An unprotected first rounder or a lottery protected pick + another future pick and/or Seraphin, Webster (hypo) etc etc - they had the assets to pull it off. All of this is just off the cuff talk anyway.

Plus the Pistons wouldn't be able to dictate terms because they're no longer in the driver's seat.

3 picks are lottery protected. One of them is minny's, so they might not get that one if Minny makes the playoffs. The other is the Pacers which they are 99% getting but will be a 25-30 pick. If the Wizards pan out and make the playoffs, they will have a 15-18 pick with that one. Not bad at all. Fair trade for both. Kendall Marshall had a rough rookie season, but he could be a great backup for John Wall.

they are in the driver's seat though. The only way they wouldn't be is if Greg Monroe actually didn't sign with anyone this summer and took the qualifying offer. Otherwise, anything he signs, they can match.

If Minny's pick is 14 or lower, Phoenix gets it (so Phoenix is pretty much hoping Minny's the 9th seed)

I think it's a really good trade for the Wiz, they really didn't give up much and Gortat's game is a perfect pairing with Wall. I think his production will shoot back up to where it was with Nash since Wall is a willing passer and I bet Gortat will become his favorite weapon.

I just see it as giving up a little to get a quality player like Gortat vs giving up a lot to get Monroe.
