We always talk about producers, but did you know top mixing engineers charge $4,000-$5000+ per mix?

A 10 album song would make them 50,000. :wow:

Mixed by Ali gotta be eating well when he mixes TDE's albums.
Considering how infrequent they put out albums he ain't eating too much. In 7 years Kendrick has 3, Q has 3, Soul has 2, Jay Rock has 1. That's like $65k a year on average

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
ffs here ...He said he did the entire mix in the box, he might have had monitors or headphones....but I remember him talking about using the actual laptop speakers to mix low end.....I might have been wrong, heres the entire interview ....

he did A mix in his laptop

check the article i posted.. he does a lot of mixes on his laptop with headphones... the thing about real industry records, they may go through 15-20 mixes. he also explains in that article about 5 more mixes he did after that, at professional studios

No. I don't say shyt I'm not even in the biz my family member is regardless I don't mingle wit em only when I'm invited to a session of a artist they know I'm a fan of and they're working with him/her

Studios are really magical places when you consider that a moment of time is captured there and heard for generations to come long after we're gone.

This is what I meant in my other posts, posters used to genuinely
discuss shyt on here and you'd find out wonderful things in threads like
this.

Now we get more TMZ articles than actual discussion about Hip-Hop.
@Mac Casper fantastic posts in this thread breh. :salute:

Thank you breh, I believe that if we post more DJ Quik threads and contribute to the discussion we will create an environment that is conducive to technical discussion. I saw in another post that someone got robbed of a million dollars worth of jewelry right out of their home, and I literally didn't care. I just like music, and when can get down to the craft of the technical aspects. I feel at home.

I agree.

Right now we've got posters debating young lito's "gangster" and I've literally
never seen a post about his MUSIC in The Booth. There's a segment of the coli
that's far to occupied with celebrity to the point that music is basically considered
an afterthought.

I've been really busy myself so music has taken a backseat to other priorities in my life but coming
back to the coli and reading great posts on things I'm interested in but am a complete layman
too like audio engineering is awesome.

It's bad enough that I can go to just about any other spot on the web and there's open hostility to
Hip-Hop or a general ignorance of it on sites like for example "GearSlutz" so when I come here
and watch people discuss the craft of crafting records and including Hip-Hop in the discussion
without deriding it or fans of it, I'm grateful.

If we could find more likeminded people and form a coalition that maintains a few threads a day, we can artificially create our own young lito threads:yeshrug:

Perhaps a few GearSlutz members that are interested in discussing hip-hop would like to come over, I haven't been on there in awhile and that's a mistake on my part. I sit here and wait for something technical to be discussed

He also mixed Isaiah Rashad and YG albums. Don't forget the royalties and publishing too
