We always talk about producers, but did you know top mixing engineers charge $4,000-$5000+ per mix?

Understanding the difference isn't that hard.

If it sounds like it was recorded in a empty can of soup than it was badly mixed. Some people do it on purpose to give it a rawer sound like Tyler the Creator last album Cherry Bomb

When it sounds crystal, when the music can make earphones from the 99 cent store sound like quality. That's a good mix. An example of this would be DJ Quiks Rhythm-Al-Ism

I'm just a fan of music. Am I wrong? Obviously there's more to it but that's a simple way of understanding it.

Dats y i record in house studio then get everything remastered by a real engineer ive been to million dollar studios with all of the rite equipment but after you record music still sounds like shyt people jus take pics of they selves in the studio jus to show fans and people outside lookin in that they are working. My first mixtape sounding like shyt because i didnt get my shyt remasterd i was basically thirsty trying to record and get the shyt done put it out there and was dissapoointed how it sound because i expected it to go hard not knowing that its a process and the sound has to adapt to different studio surround sound ie car stereo, headphones, club stereo etc i learned from that and linked with better engineers over the years and my sound is improving because im learning from my first project. The most important person in nusic is da engineer. I be in da club or riding in da car n think to my self so has great engineer we dont usually salute the people behind the great sounds we hear. Thats y i luv future sound who ever is mixing his shyt is a genius because u cant even tell if he is using autotone or not alot of people dont sound rite using autotone its like the steriods of rap music because the trap beats are more melodic and comes with a flow already. Thats why my next third mixtape will be the best one because we found da rite producers for the sound we been trying to find l. Salute to nardandb

Yeah
nah....I've never really heard of him in regards to engineering outside of his production. Ali from TDE is a problem with engineering and Guru might be the best right now as far as rap goes.
Nah telling you Emile is a beast and he's versatile. He's done stuff for ye lana Bruno Mars etc.

The sad reality of tryna make music on a budget. Knowing your mix will NEVER have that quality. As an audiophile it hurts :to:

Also go on gearslutz & other sites :francis: a grand can get you some youngin to mix it. Mike Dean, that guy forgot his name who mixed TML & other albums gonna cost hella bands no Future.

So how much does a "pro" charge to mix a song? - Gearslutz.com
