Let’s not forget it’s 2 months away from post season and the Yankees don’t even have a trusted #2 starter ... lord

Who in your opinion was the best pitcher for the Redsox during the post season last year?
Cause it sure as fukk wasn't Sale or Porcello.

Good point...I mean we are being negative as fukk but look at that Boston team from last year as a prime example of anything can happen. Pitching staff was ass outside of a miracle run from Eovaldi and Price in the WS. The offense was working wonders. Whose to say this Yankee team can’t do the same if healthy.

Let’s be real. The ideal target for the Yankees died in a boating accident a few years ago. :mjcry:

To summarize, Stanton says that at the 2016 All-Star Game in San Diego, Fernandez told him they'd both be starting the 2017 All-Star Game in Miami, that Stanton would hit 60 home runs in 2017, that Stanton would win the NL MVP Award in 2017, and that if things didn't work in Miami they'd both wind up on the Yankees after Fernandez signed with them as a free agent.

:mjcry:
He was just 24 with a kid on the way too :to:

Cashman trying to get himself fired.

I'm sure other teams tried to fleece him but you dont walk away from this shyt with nothing.
1st, Gleyber is off-limits. Period. Every team asking for him was just throwing up the middle finger UPFRONT.

2nd. We don't have a Taylor Trammell in our system. Frazier's OF play and concussion last season has his value down. We hug him, but you can't hide his defense. Therefore, no Bauer.

3rd. Greinke has zero interest in coming to NY. Period. Never an option, no matter what we offered Arizona.

4th. The Stroman deal was a complete F-U deal by the Mets. Then they had the nerve to try to trade him to the Yankees after??? Karma's a mfer and they got a lot coming to them. No one WANTS to play for the Mets. Stroman was not happy and Thor wanted out too. Just wait. Karma awaits them. Both of them will walk after next season. Wheeler will leave after this season. Just a miserable organization.

5th. We already have two Robbie Rays in the rotation in Happ and Paxton. Mental midgets in the spotlight. Some pitchers are just not built for the NY spotlight. Ray is barely worth Frazier, but they wanted 3 more prospects too. Hang up the phone.

6th. I had the same misgivings about Thor and Wheeler. It's easy to pitch in Queens. There are no expectations. Might as well be playing in Miami. But, put that NY spotlight and media that operates in the Bronx, I'm not sure how they'd handle it.

7th. No interest in Mike Minor or Tanner Roark. MadBum wasn't really available. There really wasn't anything

8th. Cashman did this to the team. His trump card is having $$$, even with Hal's cap mandate. He refuses to use it wisely and lied about Corbin. We could've got had Corbin, and he wanted to come to NY. Instead, Cashman cuts off his nose to spite his face. Doesn't get Corbin, but trades for Corbin-somewhat like in Paxson, then spends that money on Happ, CC, Ottovino, DJLM and Tulo. We could've definitely paid Corbin, and still gotten Ottovino and DJLM.

9th. Getting Sevy, Betances, Stanton and Sanchez back may give us the AL East, and just maybe a fighting chance against Houston and LAD. But sending your team into a 7 game series against Verlander, Greinke and Cole and a similar offense, with Tanaka, maybe Sevy, maybe Paxson or CC or Happ or German, a highly potent offense, and a great, but worn-out bullpen is not the best position that Cashman should have left this team in. He has to wear this failure.

Dumb shyt in all of this is Cashman had ALL SEASON to assess and make a pitching move the second he saw damn everyone of the main guys (hitters and pitchers) breaking down with these damn injuries.

Stroman deal could’ve been don’t forever ago and now the Mets think they are the Clippers and can field a watchable product. We are gonna get back at them for this shyt. This is 100% on them.

You had punk ass Keuchel sitting around for months with no job and the team wasn’t willing to throw a lil bag at him.

Meanwhile they should’ve been circling Bumgardner before the Giants got the bright idea that they are still “in it”

The prices on starting pitchers went thru the roof over the last 3 weeks or so and Cashman and Co simply sat on their hands when they had all year to make some serious offers instead of having teams trying to back them into a corner and cough up some legit prospects.

Ideal scenario no is the Rays/Red Sox/Indians/Twins all beat the shyt out of each other scrambling for the wild card and the Rays getting it because they don’t have the pieces to do shyt in the playoffs. Then the Indians/Twins can do the dirty work for us and beat the Astros, which we all know isn’t happening with their 1-2-3 guys eager for a chance to cruise to the World Series.

Severino doesn’t fare well against us, this years offense is better than last years.

Nah, not mad. Mets could never get a rise out of me. They're non-existent where it counts. This was their WS win. Says a lot.

The rest of that is pure facts. Thor and Wheeler wanted out and are gone. Stroman had no say in going there, and through his pops, the disappointment in going to the Mets came out.

Yeah, we're all offense, defense and bullpen. Which doesn't help us when the SP rotation forces us to fight uphill battles every game.

Against offenses like Houston's, LAD's and Atlanta's, we will struggle mightily when our offense isn't that much more superior than the opponents. The Minnesota and Boston series' exposed that. Our rotation weakness can't hide against those offenses and our bullpen will be overworked.

It's gonna be funny to look back in hindsight if Stanton was the reason we couldn't make big FA splashes for good pitchers. And the funny thing is that we don't even need him offensively.

For as good as the Yanks analytics team is did they not see that Stanton has a hole in his zone? Why haven’t they hired a Pete Rose type to round out his hitting? Hell Jeff Bagwell is available, he consulted with us for 1 month and everyone magically started hitting better (this was 6/7 years ago).
