Honestly, this game is on Torres.

It was 6-2. Cessa comes in and gives up what shoulda been an elementary double play ball and Gleyber fukks it up. Whatever his deal was that inning, he was not focused. That led to 4 runs and it got them into the game. If that DP is turned, it's 6-2, new pitcher, and you just chalk it up to a mini rally that didn't get too crazy and the game likely becomes a snooze fest.

Boone had no interest in actually managing tonight. That much is obvious, but up 6-0, everyone was ready to kick their feet up.

I see your point, but can't put it on Gleyber. He had a brainfart and it cost us. He also hit a HR to even the game back up. He also wasn't the one who sent these dudes to the mound in a September race for HFA:

Nestor Cortes, Jr
Luis Cessa
Cory Gearrin
Johnny Lasagna
Ryan Dull
Chance Adams

Yes, the Astros lost also, but we had a chance to get in front of them for HFA, and Boone sent out....Chance Adams....

As much as I'd love for him to manage this game like it's game 7 of the World Series, he's made it clear that all he wants is this team to be healthy. He wasn't gonna force it even though I'd prefer he keep his foot on the gas pedal at least until the division is clinched. He's already begun the process of resting German. We're gonna see more CC than we'd like to. When you have a 40 man roster he's just gonna churn through his pitchers until Severino and Betances return, so at best, you're gonna get one more week of this until they clinch.

It doesn't have to be Game 7, but we're playing for something substantial still, and we haven't clinched the division either. The offense did way more than needed to win the game. They put up 10 runs and still lost. The choice of pitching let the team down, much more than Gleyber. We also fielded an OF that had Tyler Wade in RF and Clint Frazier in LF. Neither of whom could hit a cutoff man.

Detroit is a 100 loss team. We have the 2nd toughest schedule going down the wire. We need to sweep series like these in Sept, not diddle around and settle for the series win.

Tomorrow, he's rolling 3-inning CC out there. Not even a guaranteed win under these circumstances anymore.

Let's win the division at least first, then try to play for HFA while resting German, Paxson, Matsui, Judge, Sanchez, Torres, DJLM, and even Gardner, and working Stanton, Severino, Betances back into the mix.

Hicks officially out for the playoffs. If the Yankees pull this off Cashman is gonna demand a statue in monument park

He’s a productive player when healthy, but they can’t rely on him at all. 39 games missed in 2016, 74 games in 2017, 25 last year, and if he’s done for the year, 103 regular season games and however many playoff games. At minimum counting the playoffs, that would be 244 missed games as a Yankee in 4 seasons. That’s 61 games a year he misses. They need to be in the market for another outfielder in the offseason.

I think Hicks is making a case for us to hang on to Tauchman, Maybin and Gardner next year lol. Dude can't stay healthy for nothing. Maybe the lack of durability is why Cashman was able to get that kind of extension for him.

I always viewed Hicks as a placeholder for Florial anyway:manny:
The tools are there, but he gets injured every year and strikes out entirely too much. We need this kid to play 140 games in one season, cut down the strikeouts while putting the ball in play more, before the hype is justified. Hopefully this happens in 2020.
