The broadly appealing artists and markets? Yes, but music today on macro levels has never been more experimental and genre-bending in interesting ways. You can't expect to only listen to shyt the big labels pump out which is commoditized and homogenized AF and hope to find all your gems there:yeshrug: There's almost too much good music out nowadays, people just don't know where to look or aren't open minded enough to accept the diversities of certain artists.

You really can't say rap and r&b is dead when over the last couple years we've seen artists like Tyler, Frank, Earl, Childish Gambino, Solange, Thundercat, FKA twigs, Blood Orange, just to name a very select few.
Maybe for you lol ive heard some of the artist you named they don't do it for me if it works for you that is good though.

You got old.

No one was making music like Marvin Gaye and Al Green in the 90s so I’m not sure why you’d expect music like that in the OP to be dominating charts today.

But there are some folks making music like the OP, more than we’re making 70s type music in the 90s so I don’t get why people always bytch about this.
Facts nikkas just outgrew r&b it is currently prospering

Your comment was a blanket statement about how hip-hop and R&B currently sounds - you may or may not enjoy those artists I listed but I'm just telling you why to box in hip-hop and R&B as whatever it is you have in your mind is an outdated way of thinking

None of the others trying to take R&B can never ever ever ever do the genre like us. Not ever....
Can you imagine one of them trying to do a rendition of this -

They can never do that. We would put them at their places QUICK for trying to do an amateur cover of that song.

true but they were still being R&B artists and they had the talent where the ones doing it today its more of an image and lauren was the only one great at it. The industry moved away from it cause they dont want to promote happy black love songs just the ratchet ass eating tracks and drill shyt

Of course. If You point that out to The Coli about the industry trying to destroy black love, you get jumped and roasted to Bolivian

Did we let them take it or did they Debo us out of it?
I’m glad you said this because today at work I pondered...”Allowing and letting are two different things”. Allowing would be we said it’s cool come sit at the table. Letting is the Deboing. Think about it. “You just gonna LET them get away with this shyt?” Now think about how you would sound saying “I allow this to happen”. Allowing is ownership. Letting is deboing or being deboed

over some over produced bullshyt
with a million hi hats a second,808
and synthetic ass filler.
rap is even worst.
