Thread gets made all the time but I'm here for it. I'm not happy with either r&b or rap right now. I've said this before they basically merged into one genre imo and that's when this shyt became awful.

The broadly appealing artists and markets? Yes, but music today on macro levels has never been more experimental and genre-bending in interesting ways. You can't expect to only listen to shyt the big labels pump out which is commoditized and homogenized AF and hope to find all your gems there There's almost too much good music out nowadays, people just don't know where to look or aren't open minded enough to accept the diversities of certain artists.

You really can't say rap and r&b is dead when over the last couple years we've seen artists like Tyler, Frank, Earl, Childish Gambino, Solange, Thundercat, FKA twigs, Blood Orange, just to name a very select few.
