But Owens being the champ isn't part of that poor writing/booking? :patrice:

Naw. Owens was the obvious choice after Balor got hurt. Roman just got off suspension and his reigns were failures. He needed to start from the bottom in the midcard. People are tired of Rollins in the main event and wanted something new. It was Owens.

Of all the beef I have with Raw, Owens is a highlight.

Romans is a MUCH bigger draw than Owens and should be champ right now, just look at the RAW ratings during their runs :sas2: Vince ignored the casuals and gave into the indie smarks crowd who will watch no matter how trash the product, now they doing Velocity numbers :wow:

I love the Oh Russo booked drunk Hawk, Russo booked whatever that sucked. Yeah, he understood hat u needed to take risks and that includes the possibility of failure. That's the problem with today's show, they play it so safe and it's incredibly lame. And for every Mae young hand there's theDX tank invasion. Hate on the man that made wwf truly mainstream and the talk of every kid across the country brehs. Wrestling in wwf has been shyt from before the attitude era and after it. That 3 year span you talk about it is the best shyt in its history period. I know a lot of u are young and grew up with cena and Orton and I feel bad for y'all. Be products of th Stephanie era brehs

Disagree entirely.

1998 and ESPECIALLY 1999 people remember the angles not the matches - name me five great matches from 1999 in WWF? You can't, because we all remember the angles but not the blowoff matches to those angles

Once they got rid of Russo and his overblown nonsensical shyt and got in Chris Kreski the gawd in 2000 the matches and storylines dramatically improved, when taking everything into account 2000 is probably the best year in their history

When I got into wrestling my favorite match was the Iron Man match with Shawn and Bret, and guess what that didnt draw for shyt, WCW was burying them with probably some boring ass main event with Hulk Hogan. Match quality doesnt sell on a mainstream level, only on an indie level. Bret and Shawn are probably the only guys I care about as wrestlers and that was all the stuff they did before and at the beginning of the Attitude Era. And again nobody really gave a shyt and WCW fukkery killed them in ratings.

And yes, the angles are more important than the matches. Its why Steve Austin is a star, nobody truly gives a shyt about his work rate, they remember him driving Zambonis, Beer trucks, beating up Vince at the hospital etc. TBH I never really gave a shyt even about the Rock vs Austin matches. :yeshrug:

And more importantly, matches are not important since we see these wrestlers every week putting on 25 minute matches killing themselves and we say the show is garbage

Yeah all I can recall in 1999 was rock vs Austin (that was the worst of their Wrestlemania matches), rock vs triple h at fully loaded, and the Hardys against edge and Christian at no mercy for great matches. 2000 was amazing onnthe other hand. Good continuity in the writing, it all led somewhere, payoffs made sense, and the matches were great. To think Austin didn't even return until the fall and taker was gone until May.

And the trend holds true yet again, when RAW falls, so do we unless it's after a PPV.

2.34 million viewers :francis: But still #1 cable show on Tuesdays

Edit- actually our viewership increased from last week :leon:

Couple things in regards to Reigns 2nd and 3rd title reigns, they were leading into Royal Rumble and post WM, two time periods where the ratings are higher for obvious reasons. And after looking it up, you're right, Reigns did make a noticeable bump, then HHH bumped it even higher than that...then once Reigns won the title again, the ratings were very noticeably lower than before. December through May has historically been the highest rated spots in wrestling. When did Reigns have the majority of his title reigns??? December through May. Dolph Ziggler or Miz could have had the title during that same time and the ratings would have been the same. Quit trying to make something that it's not.
