Hm amazing how ya have achieved so much with the white man's boot on your neck.

We (dominicans) only been here around 30 to 40 years and already we are one of the main groups of business owners in the north east. Idk the number and I'm on my phone so I'm not looking it up, but look up how much American dollarsget sent back to dr. Where iI'm from we didn't have indoor plumbing just 10 years ago, and now my town is thriving and eating good.

Bro you gotta be outta your freakin mind. What images are you talking about? 50 cent? lol go anywhere in the world black people are not liked but black americans are the most respected. My brother has been to every continent and as soon as he opened his mouth he got love, people asking him about america. even in egypt the arabs were on his dikk because he was not like the "black africans", he was a black american.

If dominicans don't wanna be black fine, so be it. But please don't try to use lies, like "dominicans don't wanna be black because of 50 cent" get outta here.

They made it harder on themselves when they choose to assimilate into a white power structure.

N yes, the blacks of the 60s made it possible and we love them for it and every dominican will speak of mlk with love and admiration. There's a few mlk streets in DR cities matter of fact. But mlk is dead, and 50 cent and the rest of the ignorant a$$holes who eat off the white man's hand while tap dancing and destroying your image are alive and well.

I dont want to sound like I'm dissing dominicans because I'm not, I just have to let this guy know he is living in a fantasy. Why is it that a lot of people who are immigrants and a lot of white people who are from america, dont see reality for what it is?. Its like they make up a false world in their head of how good they are, and how good they are doing, but leave out how they got there, and if they are really doing well.

I dont understand why dominicans and other latins who obviously have black/african culture in them dont try to connect with black amercians and we become a strong force?. Instead they distance themselves and think they know how this country works and not gain much. They think just working all day is going to get them where they need to be, when you have to know how to maneuver through this racist system to make moves. I dont hate them, I just wish they would wake up and we can do this thing together.

Dominicans, Puerto Ricans Face The Highest Levels Of Poverty Among Hispanics In The United States

"
Dominicans and Puerto Ricans living in the United States remain among the groups with the highest levels of poverty in the country, according to numbers released by the Census Bureau.

The data released by the institution showed the level of poverty among Hispanics in general constitutes 11.2 million (23.2 percent.) of a population of about 48.2 million in U.S. territory

Of those Hispanics facing the worst economic status, 26.3 percent are Dominicans and 25.6 percent are Puerto Ricans.

Mexicans and Guatemalans, who both have approximately 25.0 percent, remain on the list in third and fourth place. Cubans had 16.2 percent.

Statistics from the study "Poverty Rates for Selected Detailed Race and Hispanic Groups by State and Place: 2007-2011", confirm that especially in communities originally from the Dominican Republic the level of poverty is lower than for Hispanics in general, African Americans, Asian American, and Hispanic whites.

However, their condition exceedes the situation faced by racial groups like American Indians, Alaska Natives and other Pacific islanders.

During the period from 2007 to 2011 the Dominican population in American territory was estimated at 1,387,724, of which 364.523 lived below poverty levels. Estimates showed that a higher number of Puerto Ricans (4,466,054) at the same time had 1,142,216 people living under the poverty line in the country.

States like Florida, New York, California and Texas where a wide group of Hispanics live nowadays, have high poverty levels ranging from 19.5 to 25.9 percent. Tennessee turned out to be the state that ranked first on the list reporting numbers of poverty among Hispanics of up to a 32.2 percent.

In comparison, the poverty rate reported in the Caribbean country of Dominican Republic by 2011 was of 40.4 percent. Meanwhile, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico showed an even a higher number of 45.6 percent during the same period of time."

I shouldn't speak in generalities, my mistake. When I say 50 cent, I'm using him as an example but what I mean is rap culture in general. shyt is the worst thing to ever happen to the black man's image. Back in the day when I would visit Dr as a kid, the most popular American was Michael Jordan. Now, it's rappers. Anywhere in the world, u guys are viewed as either rappers or athletes. It sucks, and I don't like it myself, but that's what it is. When immigrants come here, they know about the streets and who is doing what out there and how the police are handling them, and they do everything to distance themselves. That's just the sad reality. I hate getting into these debates with ya because then I get labeled as a racist when in reality I'm far from it. shyt I have had people ask me if I think I'm black because of my interests in Malcolm and mlk and Garvey and my love for harlem history. You coli (aka chocolate st0rmfr0nt) dudes are so fukking misinformed about Latinos tho that I always feel the need, as someone who has his feet in both worlds, to clarify shyt. I have NEVER felt animosity towards my black brothers and they have never felt it towards me. Yet we are always being attacked on this site when try focus should be on deeper issues. Like why your leaders (rangel) are crooked and use race as a platform to win the support of the very people he steals from. Ponder that shyt.

i never said we all rich. but 26.3 of us are below the poverty level, while the other 73.7 of us is living above it. compare it to DR. if not for coming here, we would be fukked up. we came here not speaking a word of english and coming from poverty in a 3rd world country. for 73.7% of us to be above the poverty level is a beautiful fukking achievement and we will take it

keep in mind, poverty in DR and poverty in the USA are a monster of a difference.

I just call it how I see it. You aren't ignorant enough not to take my meaning but you're clearly arrogant enough not to.

@beanz Yes, that is a good thing but that is still a high number for a small group. Then you need to ask yourself which ones are not in poverty?. The white ones, the ones who live with the family, etc?. Nobody is knocking yall but, I just see it as a lot o f foreigners are just ok but they give this attitude like they made big strides. Its good to come from a fukked up place and make your life better here but, once here you cant keep making the excuse of where you're from being fukked up and you are doing good because now you are in another race and I see too many latins who arent doing good, just better then where they came from. Cubans are the only ones who are doing good as a whole, and we know why. Yes its that evil word, RACE. They knew how to blend in with white americans and bring the money back to their community and keep it there. The only thing is, the community is in florida so they are stuck to one place, which can be a good and a bad depending on how you see it and how you view society because it can easily be torn apart by some idiots and now they have no community just like what racists did to blacks with places such as black wallstreet, rosweood, and wilmington,n.c.

You have your mind set on what you want to believe but I felt you need to hear another side that you are either ignoring or just dont know about.
