With the amount of money that's going to be on the move this summer, I still think holding on to Zach til now would have yielded a better package than the BS trade they got back from the Spurs.

They valued the #12 pick over everything else and after we see some of these moves that are made for big salary players, the Bulls definitely could have been a player to either help facilitate a deal for other teams that will be moving on from big name stars.

The entire strategy was remedial as fukk. All they had to do was manage the season with the priority of staying in the bottom 10. You do that by dumping guys like Vuc for whatever GS wants, and if necessary showing Billy Donovan the door if he's content on bucking and winning pointless games. Zach came back and played like an All-star and they still only managed to get their pick back along with filler

I wonder what the number is for Kuminga. I'm assuming Vuc would be in this deal and that gets you to 20M. Kuminga's number determines on who else Chicago would need to include in this package.

Kuminga isn't a bum but I'm curious how you could facilitate a winning team around him. Maybe GS was holding his potential byke

You don't IMO.

His play style also contradicts what Chicago worked so hard to implement this season. Which was fast quick decision play and uptempo offense... every possession. Kuminga has a lot of the same flaws that we hate about Patrick Williams. Kuminga has more confidence and is the more aggressive scorer, but he doesn't cut/move well off ball, he doesn't rebound well and his 3 ball isn't good... doesn't make quick reads or pass. I don't get it. They must think he'll fit in better with our younger team and unlock his potential

If I'm Chicago, I'm leaning more into Matas becoming the 3 of the future instead of bringing in Kuminga at this point. I don't see the rush into getting this guy, he's not proven enough to bring in and muck up anything you have going on with Matas after a strong rookie season.
