Yeah huge misstep by everyone involved in my opinion. Everytime I have to get up and switch a disc, I think about how things could have been. Hopefully they come up with some type of opt-in plan for the future.

and yes, technology that saves you having to get up and do something is usually embraced. I grew up having to change the channel on the TV with a pair of pliers

I don't get this. For the PS3 and the PS4 you always have the option to download digitally

And I should have the right to play the games in my hardrive without having the disc in. This draconian drm on these new systems is an outrage.

The messaging was all fukked up and this part is probably more important than them implementing their draconian like features onto a BRAND NEW CONSOLE THAT THEY WANT $500 FOR

The 24 Hour rule was a bunch of nonsense, not even steam has such a ridiculous requirement on a platform that its users are more comfortable than consoles in being online all the time, let that sink in for a bit.

The $500 price tag is already bad and didn't learn the lesson from Sony, we might indeed have a ceiling that can be charged on consoles...and they were trying to do it with inferior internals.

Also, I've asked this question before, but I never get a clear answer from you cats. With the exception of Nintendo, do you think Sony or Microsoft can really get much momentum behind them appealing to casuals? Reason I ask this is because this is what started this snowball for Microsoft...these morons actually had the audacity to have a major release talking about TV almost exclusively...after building the xbox brand as a gaming platform. Do these guys know their audience? I'm all for expanding their audience, but secure the $500 from the hardcore crowd first...the casuals will follow. Sony could have come out and I think have a little bit better results as they have a more loyal following, but MICROSOFT? The company that has released 2 consoles that people view as FPS boxes is going to try to appeal to casuals...for $500...with a bundled camera that most hardcore gamers do not care about. What kind of logic is this

It's obvious Microsoft didn't know what it had in the 360 and tried to control the market. "Yeah the gamers will by a game system...so lets try to sell them on the fact that it plays tv too!" This is some baby boomer way of thinking that just doesn't work today. But it's okay...maybe Microsoft will do better in the future and not make the same mistakes but as long as you have a$$holes like Mattrick working around or near the gaming industry we are going to have deal with shyt like this forever.

All DRM is not equal. I'm not fond of persistent always online drm for ALL games regardless of it's genre. Steam from what I used is VERY lenient. To say I'm "poopooing" DRM would be false as I'm technically pro DRM as I cop almost all my games on the Vita digitally. The way M$ was going about it didn't sound very consumer friendly. It doesn't take a 10 year strong, astute gamer to realize the pitfalls of that move if it was made.

As it's been pointed out numerous times already, if someone wants to buy all their games digitally, nothing is stopping them from doing so on either system. M$ just wanted to cut your options of obtaining games down to one.

As a side note to this, if one of the companies was going to do an all-digital system, Sony would have had MUCH better grounds of implementing it. PS+ has been fantastic for years with discounts and free games. FAR beyond what M$ has been offering on XBox Live.

What the fukk ever. Xbox live gives free games you own PERMENANTLY. PS+ games are free to play temporarily. Please stop talking about shyt you have no clue about.
