What's supposed to make Melo want to sign with the Lakers? He wants to win and the Lakers don't even have a team. He's doing this out of his respect for Kobe. Complimentary visit for the old man.:manny:

We're one of the only teams that can give him the max. The other being New York. The money still matters. I don't see how yall don't understand that.

And you mean to tell me that Kobe, Melo, Pau, and that young fella Randle wouldn't compete?

1. We're no longer coached by the dirtbag who shall not be named.

2. Our roster wasn't THAT bad we have some gems here and there but coaching, injuries, and trash gettin most minutes played a role in our downfall. Randle alongside melo and Kobe would be a factor.

3. Kobe has been able to play for months, when he was clear it was no reason to come back so he bowed to the tank(why do you think some of us took the tank so seriously).

Well then we literally gotta go all in. I like the strategy of keep away but that means this season really needs to count. The fact that we have to depend on this FO for that makes me sick, only Logo and Doc could handle these kinda stakes and they ain't here.

You right bruh. I've never been more disappointed in Mitch. I don't even try to blame Jim anymore becuz he's already dumbshyt.

I dunno, it kinda just confirms for me that mitch was really just a numbers/cap guy and didn't really have the skills Logo has. At this point I'm just hoping he gained those skills somehow.

-Wow long day.. Anyhow, jjust wanted to check in and say that LA is really putting all their cards on the table for Anthony. They desperately want him, and they're hoping he can see the benefits of playing for the Lakers, and what it means to play for the franchise. It's an exciting yet nervous feeling I'm told.. Still optimistic but a bit worrisome that he'll wanna stay in the East and play for the Bulls.. Or think money first and stay with New York. But that's not going to stop them from divulging their plan to him, and it is a good one.

-If Melo stays, Pau will come with him. If he doesn't choose LA.. Gasol is just about 100% gone. He likes the thought of playing for OKC or Miami of all places. But he'd stay for Anthony.. Add Randle and Bryant to that, and a decent placeholder pg.. And regardless of the pessimism.. That's a scary solid team. The Lakers are thinking Randle is almost a surefire thing.. That team can do damage if healthy of course.

-I hear that Kobe is insisting how healthy he is.. That he's coming back better than ever. He's that confident about it. Sure he's got a big ego.. But he knows his body more than anyone else, and him being that sure of himself, along with everyone prematurely shoveling dirt on his grave has him motivated more than ever. That will be relayed heavily to Carmelo as well.

-They'll let him know they'll have the requisite cap space to get the team back into contention, that money won't be a concern.. And that they'd pay luxury tax to ensure the Lakers return to the top, and that they need him in order to do that. He's the first step to doing that.

-They did want Lowry, and they wanted to have him agree before the meeting today to show him that the ball was rolling. But if that would've occurred, like I had heard earlier, they were probably going to ask him to take a lesser salary in order to cobble the rest of the roster together.. And that might not have been good. Especially since they'd then ask Pau to take a paltry sum to stay.. Another not so good look. But that never had a chance of occurring in the end.

-I will say one thing. People, me included, have scratched their heads at the front office, and their decisions, or lack thereof. But I heard that Jim Buss, yes Jim Buss, is working his ass off trying to bring this team back to prominence. He totally understands what fans expect, and the shoes he has to fill. Just know that. The guy cares.

-The last thing, please don't bother listening to Broussard and the ESPN east coast bias. Anthony didn't take the meeting with LA out of respect for Kobe or because it was "on his way home".. What a joke. Carmelo is interested, and to say anything otherwise is nothing but garbage..

take with a grain of salt of course. supposed AEG insider.

I kinda get the feeling that Jim won't ley Mitch do his job. He wants to be so hands-on but doesn't see that isn't how Doc did things. Doc let Logo do his fukkin job.

Logo = Obie Wan
Mitch = Luke Sky

History has proven of Mitch Skywalker's skills. From Gasol to Ariza to CP3 to Howard. Jimbo has been Vader though:to:

Stern was Emperor Palpatine( Darth Sidious):pacspit:

Compete? He wants to win and he can't win with the current Lakers, why? He can't commit to a team that doesn't exist yet, whats the selling point? I'm just saying how can an old Bean, Byron Scott (whom CP may trash to Melo) and Randle make him leave a much better team in NY? Yes the money matters, but so does having a TEAM and a direction which the Knicks have and LA doesn't.

Yeah this guy is sounding legit...I think in Melo's mind its Bulls, LA, or NY...I think he wants to stay in NY but wished they had another centerpiece to keep him

Seems like the Lakers were trying to bring in Lowry as well for 2 or 3 years. On top of Melo AND Pau. That tells me Pau is willing to slash his pay to stay.

I'm guessing they are trying to find a PG to get the ball to these guys and hit the open shot.

Melo @ $18 Million year one which more than Bulls, rockets and Mavs can offer
Grevis Vasquez @ $7 million year one or similar player/contract
Pau Gasol @ $5 million year one.

Only hurdle now is dumping Nash to free the cash.
