I wanted Lowry but I knew it was a long shot esp with the Lakers offering said amount of years.Seems like the Lakers were trying to bring in Lowry as well for 2 or 3 years. On top of Melo AND Pau. That tells me Pau is willing to slash his pay to stay.
I'm guessing they are trying to find a PG to get the ball to these guys and hit the open shot.
Melo @ $18 Million year one which more than Bulls, rockets and Mavs can offer
Grevis Vasquez @ $7 million year one or similar player/contract
Pau Gasol @ $5 million year one.
Only hurdle now is dumping Nash to free the cash.
though.I love thecoli.com

Front office bout to get ethered again![]()

The Bulls and Rockets have salary cap space for only $17-18 million first-year salaries in four-year-deals worth $70-75 million.
Even with Jackson pricking Melo’s bubble, insisting publicly that he take less than the maximum five-year $129 million deal, Phil only wants a $10-20 million cut, not $50-60 million.
The Mavericks have the same Texas advantage that Houston does—no state income tax—but not as good a team.
The Lakers can offer $96 million. Unfortunately, with Kobe Bryant at $23.5 million and four more players at another $14 million, they have to renounce Pau Gasol to offer Melo a $22.5 million starting salary, leaving just $17 million under the luxury tax threshold for six more players.

Ramona Shelburne on Mike & Mike an hour ago says Lakers pitch to Carmelo includes possibility of bringing in another big free agent possibly LeBron whom Lakers haven't ruled out yet. Also a chance to pick and choose coach and team.
I heard her say that on the Bill Simmons Podcast a few days ago. She also said the chances of Melo signing with the Lakers are pretty slim. There are no players to play with and Kobe is past his prime.did anyone else see or here this?

Woj Just posted this a few minutes agoTeams and agents agree: Outside of role players now, the market is frozen until Miami's free agents and Carmelo Anthony make decisions.
Kobe's huge contract already having negative effects
I don't think the Kobe deal came from Mitch.Blame mitchell.
Of course I know you're here to hate Kobe by you even bringing up the contract.
