They have capspace next year that they can throw at a Kevin Love type player. If Melo truly wanted to win he would sign with the Bulls. He isn't going to win in LA or NY.
Kobe, Randle and Pau are better than anyone on the Knicks and LA can give him a four year max. Why would he choose NY over LA?

Gasol is garbage, we have no idea how Randle's game will translate in the NBA and Kobe is 36 coming off two major injuries. There are too many uncertainties surrounding the Lakers. There is a reason Dwight left and Melo and Bron aren't going to sign here.
i just heard on espnLA someone important is there to make a pitch to melo but cant tell us unless he signs with us

Kobe wouldn't have signed a cheaper deal no matter how you tried to sold it him. Only way that happens is if the FO waits to see on how the season plays out.
They coulda did that too.
