Yeah this just knocked Sinners out of my top spot.

This was like a deranged modern day Grimm’s Fairy Tale and that payoff was excellent :russ:

The final sequence had most of our theater clapping and cheering

We are in the absolute golden age of horror Coli fam…

As good as the shining huh? :patrice: idk I didn't like the shining.

I wanna see this but kinda feels like one of those too good to be true shyt. I remember Barbarian getting hype like this and that was mid tier at best.
Never listen to hype, watch for yourself and see how you feel about it. It’s as good as The Shining, to me, because of the slow methodical buildup that pays off.

Don’t look at it as I’m comparing each film 1:1, I’m comparing the quality, they’re two different things tonally.

Cornfields, cows, & an one stoplight town
I’m at a loss for words. That was…. insane and original and weird and perhaps allegorical? I think I need to get see it again but I also need some distance from it because it felt really evil in a real tangible way. I have to say whoever wrote this is great at storytelling because the different characters and use of their unique point of views really created a spellbinding mystery. It almost lost me because I was frustrated by not knowing what was going on but then it wove it all together to unveil a crazy reveal that almost feels like an entirely new movie. I have so many questions. Can’t wait for people to see it and jump into some discussion. 9/10

People should def avoid reviews that are coming out from critics on twitter. They don't really spoil anything but they allude to something about the ending that is best experienced with as little info going in as possible.

I can see some people complaining about the pacing or sharp tone shifts but....trust us, this shyt is amazing.

This movie was strictly made for people that say “why would I watch this now, the trailer showed everything”.

Cregger heard that and said iite bet say less.

Growing up, my sisters and I always had books of ghost stories / messed up Grimm's fairytales including one called Bony Legs.

I had just gifted our family copy that I inherited to my 5 year old niece who is already hooked on "spooky" stories and always wants to read them with me :to: .
Since I gave it to her, my sister told me that she asked if they could put the book away for awhile because Bony Legs scared her :manny: . I get it, she's a creepy looking witch who lives in the woods and abducts children :demonic:

Anyways, to make a long story endless, that bytch of an aunt Gladys reminded me of Bony Legs :mjlol:

Not as crazy on it as the hype suggested, but this was still a fun ass watch. Cregger is one of the best in the game. Might be the closest I’m gonna get to PTA doing a full-on horror film. The Magnolia comps I heard beforehand weren’t too far off and it’s dope seeing him wear those influences proud on his sleeve, even down to the score at times.

There were stretches where I wish the flick had more bite though because when this film does manage to get nasty I was fully strapped in. Those last 20 minutes in particular is an all-timer.

Gladys’ presence in this actually stood out more than Cage in Longlegs IMO. Amy Madigan, shouts out to you. Would not be shocked if I found out they shopped at the same clothing store tho. :mjlol:

Yes, I waited until 2:17am to post this. :demonic:

i get what you were saying as far as bite goes. Hereditary is a perfect and recent example of a film that built up slowly but the parts that were creepy were CREEPY and the parts that were what the fukk, were HOLY shyt.

I can see people either being overall satisfied with what they get because the totality of the film is pretty damn good but…I can also see the criticism for not enough for all of the tension that it carefully built.

I thought the bite was effective beforehand but what really takes it to another level was the shift to the child's perspective. It completely changes the tone of the film and makes it scarier, watching a child be abused and scared into submission by a witch. But like I said even before then I felt like it landed nearly every beat. The only pacing issue I had was the POV shift after the gas station attack. That was such a "what the fukk" moment and then bam, POV shift. It then takes a few minutes to rebuild back to that and then the film really starts cooking.
