For those of you who thought you'd never see a Carter VI, its now looking like a real possibility-- though it won't be Lil Wayne on the mic. According to Young Thug-- who has continuously cited Wayne as his sole influence --his next project will be titled Carter VI.

“I just feel like I’m that big,” said Thug, speaking to DJ Whoo Kid on the title. “Cause he feel like after Tha Carter V he ain’t gonna make no more music. Cause he feel like can’t nobody make music like that,” explained the rapper, alluding to the fact that he took Wayne's claim as a challenge. "I'm going straight at his ass".

Thugger also spoke of his experience at SXSW, which he almost didn't attend. “fukk yeah, I enjoyed it. I didn’t even wanna go at first, man," he said. "When I [stayed] there for like three, four days. Oh yeah, I ain’t never missing the next one. I feel like if I did step into the world I wouldn’t feel like it’s no competition.

:snoop: yeah the contract is for 4 albums so far he has only turned in ONE ..which is I AM NOT A HUMAN part 2

Lil Wayne is YMCMB for life. The New Orleans rapper has resigned to his label of 15 years

http://www.webookthem.com/lil-wayne-re-signs-to-ymcmb-for-150-million-dollars/

the contract is worth 150 million dollars.... :dead:

it would be cheaper for him to kill himself :comeon:
I just dont understand it

How is the contract worth 150Ms if CMR won't let Wayne release albums?

Contract is worth money if it makes money... cant make money if they dont let :weazle: sell records

shyt is deep

^^^^ I read Biggie sold his Ready to Die publishing to Puff for $50k before he album re-couped to feed himself, his family and the mafia.

Biggie clocked the game quickly though. Partnered with Un for a label (and not Puff) - got his people's albums out QUICK.

Sound Reasoning
You definitely got the artist development right but the artist creates their own LLC and are usually in partnership with these major labels so they get a significant portion of their underlings income.

You're right....I didn't mention that point. However, my over-arching point is that these dudes are not really bosses. Bosses determine what they do, when they do and how they do. If you're in charge of a group of people but still need sign off, then you're a manager.....not the boss.

All I'm saying is that all these rappers claiming "boss" or "CEO" status are not that.....more like Assistant Vice President. They really manage a division of the major via creating that LLC. Yea, they get paid off the artists....no different than a corporate manager gets bonuses based off the performance of his team. But the ultimate decision making when it comes to the album and the budget goes through the major.

And when it comes to the music business or any business really, whoever controls the timing of projects, the budget for said projects and the ultimate percentage, is the real boss.

Dudes are basically in franchise deals. Owning a McDonald's franchise doesn't make you the CEO of McDonald's. McDonald's utlimately decides how the restaurant will look, run and who even gets the chance to own one. The franchisee is getting money on everything in the restaurant, but McDonald's still owns the brand and can pull that card.

No different in the music game....just they get to choose their own name :yeshrug:

Peace
