I understand what u saying. Just cuz ur mom was tight with her coworkers doesn't mean u gonna be tight with urs. U gotta factor in the differences like her work environment, how much they interact, if there any age differences, their personalities, work stress, etc. Ur mom's work environment may have been conducive to fostering good friendships and work relationships. Ur work environment may not be the same. I think working in a hospital...u have to engage more with ur coworkers. Plus u working with older folks of different races who aren't reliable. I understand that u want friends...I feel u. But work isn't always the best place to meet best friends....sometimes u can but not all the times. But I would engage in coworker lunches and happy hours once in a while...just not regularly. Also, if u go to a happy hour...don't consume any more than 2 drinks. Some would say only have 1 drink but I would say don't do over 2 drinks and don't go over ur limit. U don't wanna be known as the employee who has a drinking problem.

or you could tell them dumb bytches to act professional and let HR know you have nothing to do with their behavior. Lumping yourself in by acting gay and looking like a follower and laughing at their inappropriate jokes isn't going to get you any type of bag.
