Rappers love saying that, but when you listen to the records, it damn sure sounds like glorification to me.

The best example of a song that speaks on the bad shyt in the hood and doesn't glorify it is

Along the way, we got songs instructing us on how to make crack, celebrating the killings of other Blacks, slippin' drugs in a woman's drink, disrespecting Black women, etc.

That "broadcasting what goes on" reasoning is bullshyt

The worse one is ' It's no different to movies and video games' as if there is any pressure for actors and software engineers to live their art

"Arnold Schwarzenegger kills 100 people in a movie and no one says anything:hubie:"

Arnold doesn't leave the movie set and claim to really be a shooter:what:

"I don't promote drug use:hubie:"

Check their IG and see double cups, Sprite/Fanta bottles, and syrup in every other picture:francis:

I'm pretty much done with rap. I got a new phone and only put R&B albums on it. These new rappers are putting out nothing but gang gang, morally bankrupt music. I can't pretend to go along with the ignorance.

It was always mostly BS outside a few ppl.
UGK always showed both sides of street life...not just the money and hoes and the fun shyt The depression...the struggle

Rappers know that super violent, nihilistic content sells esp to sheltered yt ppl who want to feel danger or grittiness of street life without actually being involved

So rappers have always overexaggerated shyt in music....shyt been like that since the early 90s so it cant just be blamed on "new rappers". The only difference now is many rappers now dont talk about the dark side of hustling...its all just the money, drugs n bytches. Everyones winning and nobody ever takes a L

Its America...sex and violence SELL

There are plenty of new rappers who dont put out ignorant shyt but its easier to just follow that narrative. You dont have to dig deep either but mainstream media doesnt give them shine for obvious reasons

I like J.I.D. and a few young cats but I'm older and rap just doesn't do it for me anymore:yeshrug:
