Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker is considering calling it a career and retiring after 12 seasons in the NFL, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports.
Welker, 33, finished his second season with the Broncos in 2014, but had his lowest numbers since the 2005 season and suffered another concussion. In just two seasons in Denver, Welker has already dealt with three concussions and wasn't in the starting lineup for 11 games. He's set to be a free agent in March.
Prior to joining the Broncos, Welker had six prolific seasons with the New England Patriots, earning five trips to the Pro Bowl. Welker accumulated over 100 receptions in five of the six seasons and led the NFL in the category three times. He also played three seasons with the Miami Dolphins and has 9,822 career receiving yards.
Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning hasn't officially announced his decision to play or not in 2015 either, although he is reportedly training in New Orleans and intends to come back.
Welker finished the 2014 season with 49 receptions for 464 yards with two touchdowns.
